Web Designs CritiqueWritten by Nash Ville
Criticisms, whether constructive or destructive, motivate someone to work hard on anything that he does. Before, I really get mad every time someone criticizes my assignments (especially in school) or even, my fashion statement. But now, I am more matured. I take good or bad criticisms as a challenge for me to do best in whatever endeavor I’m engaged at. I am aware that other people’s comments are necessary for us to be aware of our mistakes which we usually overlook or just tend to ignore sometimes because we find our works compelling and attractive.I agree with what article’s author has said, you learn to create good designs through works of others only when you make an effort to actually evaluate work and state why you think it works or doesn't work. We're all born with same set of tools. Those tools you develop and 'grow' are ones that you use for life – effective ones. Regarding belief of one designer that "You learn a good design by looking at a bad design", this is true because we get chance to assess that certain design and create a better design which is totally different from that design. But remember, we all have different tastes and styles. Something that appeals terrible to our eyes might be excellent to other’s perspective.
| | Why Coloring Your Fonts is Not Always RecommendedWritten by Maricon Williams
There’s something wrong with a house dominated by weeds and vines. Those crawlers are an eyesore to passersby. Not only that, they camouflage beauty of architecture and landscape and no one would dare explore it…This is also true when it comes to background, fonts and color of visual ads and prints. Too much color wipes out eagerness on part of readers. They can appear to be weeds, where blades in one way or another can cause destruction this is reason why it is important to wisely choose colors and fonts. It can either make or break your marketability chain. Colors communicate. In fact they are so much part of our lives. Font should be of sufficient contrast to background so that it can be easily read. In practice, most of us uses black on white or vary pale backgrounds because combination makes it more readable compared to green fonts on a red background or vice versa which is very much awkward. When choosing your color scheme for your fonts, make major color choices first. Plan on what color will dominate background. Ensure that selected colors coordinate with your selected color scheme and that all font colors can be seen well on your background colors.
