Simple Steps to a Great Banner Ad

Written by Kelly Paal

Everyone is using them now and if you’re planning on creating your own banner ad then there are some things that you should know.

Standard Size I’ll admit I made this mistake. I was too caught up in creating a really nice looking design that I made something that was notrepparttar standard size. Now it wasn’t much offrepparttar 100789 norm but when I found out I promptly changedrepparttar 100790 size. Keep to standards. I know that if your ad is slightly larger it may get more attention but if we all start doing this where will it stop? Creating an ad that is larger than standard is notrepparttar 100791 way to get attention. And in many places they will require you to keep torepparttar 100792 industry standard.

Content This must be short, simple, and very direct. You’ve really got to simplify this. I know that this is hard but there is not a lot of room on these banner ads andrepparttar 100793 more information that you try to cram on thererepparttar 100794 less likely that someone will read, or try to read it. Keep it to a few words, if you can’t manage to say what you want in a few words enlistrepparttar 100795 help of friends and family, ask them to define what it is that you do, or sell in five words or less. You may get a really clever saying to use by doing this.

Color and Animation Keep colors eye catching but easy to look at and make sure that they match your site. Maybe it’s just me that prefers this but I’ve clicked on banner ads that looked really great and ended up on these hideous web pages. Try to match your ads torepparttar 100796 look of your website. Animation, please, please, please keep this simple and a short download. I don’t know how many times I’ve clicked off a page beforerepparttar 100797 banner ad animation even started. Please make sure that you run your ad several times. Have others watch it, make sure thatrepparttar 100798 download is reasonable. Don’t assume that everyone has DSL. Now you also don’t have to make allowances for older computers or bad connections but most ofrepparttar 100799 country now has enhanced or accelerated connections. Make sure that your ad downloads quickly on an accelerated connection and you’re doing fine.

7 Great Ways to Lose Your Shirt Using Google Adwords!

Written by Keith Thompson

Google Adwords is a great tool! Careful use can lead to legions of highly targeted visitors breachingrepparttar moat around your site, and demanding to pillage your products! Onrepparttar 100788 other hand...

Adwords is also a great place to drain your advertising dollars if you're not careful. Like any other automated system, it requires constant feeding and attention to keep you from wondering just why you spent hundreds of dollars and received a paltry return on your investment. Here's 7 great ways I've found to do just that, (and yes I've been guilty of several of these to one degree or another.)

1. - Not getting enough keywords, and I don't mean just numbers. Good ones. A lot of people run a search on their favorite keyword tool and pickrepparttar 100789 top ten or twenty words or phrases gettingrepparttar 100790 most traffic, thinking somehow that THEY will beat allrepparttar 100791 others using these keywords. There is a reason why these keywords are so popular: everybody and their grandmother are bidding on them! A much better approach is to come up with at least a couple hundred, better a couple thousand words that you have a shot at getting a high ranking for. After all, if you have 1800 keywords and can get a top 8 (first page) position for most of them, you'll see a lot more clicks than you will chasingrepparttar 100792 top dollar words. If you get a hundred ofrepparttar 100793 lower tier words giving you a couple of visitors a day, well, you dorepparttar 100794 math. Not only that, but oftenrepparttar 100795 less expensive words are altogether more specific, delivering far more targeted visitors.

2. - Not creating adgroups. You should use this function! It can help you focus your advertising much more effectively. By arranging your keywords in tightly focused groups of 10- 30 phrases, and writng a keyword-specific headline for each of them, you have a much greater ability to see what's working and what's not. Also gives you a chance to test different headlines and text copy.

3. - No negative keywords. This you gotta do. And it's so easy. Simply add -free (or whatever else you don't want associated with your searches) and you won't end up paying for a lot of clicks for people who weren't interested inrepparttar 100796 first place.

4. - Using only broad keyword searches for their keywords. When you're paying for this stuff, you want to be as specific as you can, particularly if you're playing in a very competitive market. Why hope that a broad search will return someone interested in what you're selling? Better to get as focused as you can onrepparttar 100797 words they may be searching for. Google helps you with this by giving you more information onrepparttar 100798 impressions and click-throughs than you can handle, but be pro-active, and prunerepparttar 100799 dead wood after 100 or so impressions. If they haven't produced by then, repparttar 100800 odds of them improving by leaps and bounds are not great.
