The goal being to serve your customers and thereby earn a profit. New marketers often get started as an affiliate, receiving a commission selling for others. And that's a great way to start, because from there you can learn about Internet marketing in general, technology behind it, and how to match a market to a product. Sooner or later though most marketers want to offer at least some of their own products and services. They may still rely on affiliate programs to generate extra profits, but they want to establish a name and product for themselves. This helps balance and diversify income, especially if marketer doesn't concentrate only on Internet marketing niche. There are of course many products and services to create and sell, but new marketers may want to carefully consider an info product for their first venture. Info products have several unique characteristics that make them ideal in this situation.

For those who don't remember, there was a time when Netscape was for sale in computer stores, for anywhere from $20 to $50, depending on which version you wanted. Then Microsoft's free Internet Explorer (IE) came along, knocked out Netscape as a contender to all but a relatively few users, and dominated browser market for years. IE has gained a reputation of being vulnerable to various types of attacks, and in recent years though, several challengers have appeared. And they're good. Really good. The two most popular upstarts are Mozilla (with next-generation browser Firefox), and Opera from Oslo-based Opera Software ASA. Both offer tabbed browsing, popup blockers, password and download managers, instant messaging and chat, themes, and security control settings, among other features. In addition, both offer versions of their software for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and other operating systems.
