What isrepparttar one thing that all ofrepparttar 121145 best public relations agencies do every year?

They research and compile editorial calendars from publications that are pertinent to their client's business.

You should too.

What's an editorial calendar?

Editorial calendars are schedules of what topics a publication plans for cover for a particular month. For example, repparttar 121146 INC. editorial calendar for July 2003 http://www.inc.com/advertise/magazine/calendar.html states that they're writing an article on various business services.

Bingo!

If you feel that you can contribute to this particular topic, call or emailrepparttar 121147 editorial department at INC. (try to "speak" torepparttar 121148 managing editor) and find out who (which reporter) has been assigned to writerepparttar 121149 story. Email or callrepparttar 121150 reporter and explain how you can contribute. It's that simple -- it takes less time than writing this article - and is much more effective than blast-faxing a garbage bound press release to inappropriate reporters.

I always seem to be asking as well as answeringrepparttar 121147 question, "How do you get your ideas for writing?" Chances are everybody you will ask will have a different answer. Ideas are everywhere and there are many ways to collect them. Follow these tips to getrepparttar 121148 ideas flowing.

1.Withrepparttar 121149 holidays just past us, use ideas from your holidays to write about. Stories about holiday fights can be turned into articles on people skills or coping with interpersonal relationships. Tell aboutrepparttar 121150 presents you got. Talk about how much you love outdoor sports. Or haterepparttar 121151 snow. Or fearrepparttar 121152 snow. Write about repparttar 121153 car accident you avoided on New Year's Eve.

2.Take a notebook and pencil wherever you go. Keep one on your desk, one in your purse or briefcase, and one in your jacket pocket. If you think a lot while driving, keep a mini tape recorder with you.

3.Write down every idea that floats through your mind, whether it's one word, a phrase, or a whole paragraph. Continue to add to your notebook every now and then. When you need an idea, first scan through your notes to see if you have anything you can use. (If you prefer, do this on your computer and add new files as you get new ideas.)
