Submitting your website to Search Engines today may seem like a futile task or at very least, a complete waste of time. When you consider that there are millions of websites that could be listed just for word FREE, it hardly seems worth effort.

Most websites today compete heavily for a top ten listing on major search engines for words or phrases that are relevant to their websites. This equates to targeted traffic or visitors with a desire to see their webpages.

Whether people are surfing for entertainment or shopping from safety of their homes, it's usually top ten listings that get clicked on when search results are given.

Optimizing a website for a top ten listing is best left to professionals. While such exposure can equate to heavy traffic, does benefit out way cost?

Most website owners may not have budget to attain and maintain a top ten listing on major search engines.

An alternative to major search engines is pay per click option. Usually people bid an amount from 1 cent on up per click for a key word. Whoever makes top bid for that key word gets #1 position on down. It can be an ideal way to bring targeted traffic to your website and maintain a budget within your reach.

I'll be first to admit it; I'm a cheap skate. I'm not as bad as many I meet, but if there's a legal, ethical way to get it for cheaper or free, I'm there. I love Walmart. I get all of my clothes there. I love buying used cars - no car payments. I bought a nice house in country for only $55,000 dollars - no house payments.

When it comes to marketing over internet, I love FREE. But there are some free marketing techniques out there that leave more to be desired. In this article, I'm going to show you some of best ways I've found over years on marketing your product or service over internet for free, with no spamming, and doing it ethically.

MESSAGE BOARD SIGNATURES

Go to a search engine, such as http://www.google.com , and do a search for message boards. You'll want to search for message boards that are generally business related, and/or directly related to your service or product.

Then, make a list of URLs to at least a couple dozen message boards, and read over board rules for each board. At least once a week, post relavent responses and/or new threads on each of these message boards, and at bottom of your posts, leave a signature. You're signature could either be your name, followed by your email address or webpage, or it could be a one line ad, followed by your url or email.

HIT SURFING

This is a free e-marketing method that many people believe are a waste of time, however I do not. But I have a system. ;-) Here's how to do it:
