5 DIY Anti-aging Tactics.Written by Yvonne Finn
5 DIY Anti-aging Tactics.Do you want your life story to be a long and joyous one, without having every line written on your face? Yes, we all do! Is there anyone who doesn't want to look as good as they can, for as long as they can? While there are some very quick fixes such as, minor to major cosmetic surgeries, there are some less extreme measures that you can use to look and feel younger on a daily basis. (1) Check your attitude! How do you feel about life? Is your life going way you want it to? Do you take responsibility for what you have created, good or bad? How about accepting who you are? Be grateful for what you have, family, friends, a job etc. Then do an assessment of things you want to change, if any. Watch your self-talk, if you wouldn't say those things to others, don't say them to yourself! Be aware of why you want to make any change in your life. It must be something you have committed to, else you will most likely fail and add one more reason to criticize yourself. (2)Know your nutritional needs! What you eat has a huge impact on how you look and feel. The foods you eat help make and maintain soft, smooth, glowing skin. Wrinkle free skin is important in any anti-aging effort. The recommended daily food requirements are good guidelins, but you must know how to balance your food intake to keep your body performing at its best. At any given age, we might need to boost specific nutrients or hormones. Get regular checkups! Eat fresh fruits and vegetables as snacks, instead of over-processed manufactured "fast foods". Try not to rush your meals. When food is not given enough time to be digested properly, it becomes a burden on your body, causing un-neccessary wear and tear and premature aging! (3)Take timeouts! When was last time you had some fun? A good laugh? If you cannot remember, it's been too long! Even if you must laugh at yourself, find something to laugh about. Old photos, old clothes you've kept that you will never wear again, find something, anything. What about pampering? Done anything special for yourself lately? A facial, or manicure? In -home or at a salon, it doesn't really matter. It's time you spend just focusing on yourself that will make you feel special and cared for. We all need that!
| | Increase Your Intelligence With MusicWritten by Steve Gillman
You Are What You Listen ToCan music really help you think better? Yes, according to research that has been done so far. Listening to, and participating in music creates new neural pathways in your brain that stimulate creativity. Studies have shown that music actually trains brain for higher forms of thinking. There was a study at University of California, for example, about 10 years ago. Researchers followed progress of three year olds, split into two groups. The first group had no particular training in, or exposure to music. The second group studied piano and sang daily in chorus. After eight months musical three year olds were much better at solving puzzles. When tested, they also scored 80% higher in spatial intelligence than non musical group. With such a dramatic difference, there is bound to be more research like this in future. There is also anectdotal evidence that listening to music, especially from Mozart's era, can help you study and learn better. Hopefully there will be research done to confirm or disprove this soon, but there is really no good reason not to do your own experimentation in this area. Stephen King writes with loud rock music playing, so maybe any benefits here are according to your own tastes or brain-organization. Brainwave EntrainmentWant to listen to some music, and get smarter? There are a number of products out there that are based on an entirely different principle than research mentioned above. They rely on "entraining" your brainwaves, in order to put you in a meditative state. Brain wave frequencies vary according to mental state. Daydreaming and light meditation usually take place in "Alpha" range of frequencies, for example. So if you listen to music containing beats at a frequency of 10 Hz it will feel very relaxing, because your brain will begin to follow this frequency and reproduce rhythm in music. You will automatically generate more brainwaves at a 10 Hz frequency and enter a relaxed Alpha mental state.
