2004 Olympic Games and Yachting in Greece Written by Alexander M. Vournas
Everybody knows that Olympic Games are due to be held in Athens in 2004. Apart from accepted consequences, positive and negative, for city of Athens and Greece in general this sporting extravaganza will seriously affect yachting fraternity from mid-July to mid-September.Two major crises will afflict greater Athens area i.e. transportation and accommodation. I will refer to certain aspects of transportation later but accommodation problem will directly affect yachtsmen. How, you might ask ? I will tell you. The Greek government is trying many ways to obviate shortage of about 40,000 rooms. Athenians are being asked to offer rooms to visitors in their own homes and 11 cruise ships are being chartered and moored in Piraeus harbour for duration of Games. Not wishing to be left out of this possible bonanza, yacht owners will be offering their yachts as floating hotels in all marinas along Athens coastline, particularly Marina Alimos. Nor will this be restricted to Athenian yacht owners, as owners from all over Greece will be climbing on bandwagon and will be moving their yachts into Athens area for Games. Many yachts are already booked to regular charterers and thus prices for period will go up to alarming levels, not to mention shortage of available yachts. Another serious problem will be human waste from all these vessels. Piraeus harbour and all marinas in vicinity will become enormous sewage dumps. The people chartering these yachts as hotels are not yachties and will not know, or care, about use of holding tanks and will simply dump results of exercising of normal human bodily functions into sea. The shore facilities in these marinas will be nine times overstretched.
| | Keeping your bodybuilding diet and fat loss goals.Written by Kevin Doberstein
Fall of last year you figured a donut once in an awhile or some other fat and sugar laden nasty food wouldn’t hurt. Your excuse it is the” muscle-bulking season” or you will ”work it off”. The next thing you know your waist measurement is almost same size of your chest. You look in mirror and you see your v-taper look like a square block. You say to your self “what heck happen to all my hard work in gym?” Well all of your hard work is still there if you have been training hard, but it is covered in fat. My better half, my wife once asked me when I was expecting? At that moment, I knew it was time to shed fat.Well first thing to do is to make a final goal. For example, abdominal muscles showing by May. I used to put pictures of ab shots on my refrigerator to help keep me focused. Now I also keep a watchful eye in mirror. When I drop an inch or two off my waist I reward myself. And not with eating a whole pie or chocolate cake. Usually I buy some kind of hiking gear, camera equipment or clothing. I generally drink two liters of water per day.
