Webmail

This is becoming a very popular way of accessing email using a web browser usingrepparttar http protocol. With Webmailrepparttar 109551 email remains onrepparttar 109552 server and so can be accessed from various client machines. This type of access is ideal for people who travel and need to have email access regardless of location.

POP3 and Webmail

It is also very common that email can be accessed from you mailbox using either webmail, POP3 or both.

Account Management

Whether you are going to use email forwarding, Webmail, POP3 etc you should also take into account how easyrepparttar 109553 registrar makes it to configure and reconfigure you domain name. Most use a web control panel interface. You should check if there are any extra charges for configuration/reconfiguration. For example let's assume that you've been using email forwarding from steve@lifetimeemail.name to stevelifetime@hotmail.com and have now decided to use a yahoo account stevelifetime@Yahoo.com. Can you makerepparttar 109554 change yourself? How easy is it? Do you have to pay extra. These arerepparttar 109555 things you should be aware of when deciding on a domain registrar.

Usingrepparttar 109556 Registrar to Host your Website/Mailbox

If you currently don't have a mailbox/ website then I would chooserepparttar 109557 package fromrepparttar 109558 domain name registrar. I wouldn't choose to registerrepparttar 109559 domain name with one company and host it with a different one, unless I had already, for some reason, purchased one orrepparttar 109560 other. The normal practise with lifetime email addresses is to userepparttar 109561 domain name registrar to forwardrepparttar 109562 email to an existing mailbox ( your ISP mailbox or hotmail account).

You domain Name and Website

These articles have concentrated on email. However you have purchased a domain name and this name can be used for your website. So not only can you have email at steve@lifetime.name you also can have a website at www.lifetime.name. If you want to learn how to make your own website then http://www.build-your-website.co.uk/ has information and tutorials suitable for beginners.

Choose second or third level domain name

Always when possible go for a second level domain name as it makes your address shorter and easier to use. Therefore, I would prefer to register cope.name rather than steve.cope.name. Inrepparttar example given cope.name is actually already registered and so I can't use it, but currently steve.cope.name is available. What do I do? Well lets look at what my email addresses would look like in each case.

Email addresses

If I could registerrepparttar 109550 second level name of cope.name then I could assign my own email addresses to my family members as follows: mom@cope.name dad@cope.name firstchild@cope.name If I registeredrepparttar 109551 third level name of steve.cope.name then I could assign my own email addresses to may family members as follows: mom@steve.cope.name dad@steve.cope.name firstchild@steve.cope.name I thinkrepparttar 109552 above example makes it easy to see why cope.name isrepparttar 109553 best choice.

Which one?

In my case I don't like to userepparttar 109554 third level of steve.cope.name and so I would look for an alternate second level variation of cope that was available like Scope,cope-uk, Tipton-Cope, Cope-kavas or Cope-family etc.

Part 3 will look at how to find a registrar and registering a domain name.
