Safety First In addition to aiding in lifting energy of a space, Feng Shui can also reflect simple common sense. Safety, both real and perceived, is extremely important. Ferree recommends, “Pick up any items strewn about yard and make sure all walkways and stepping stones and steps are level. Good lighting is essential, too. It must b e easy to walk through interior and exterior of house without obstruction.”

Avoid Clutter According to Ferree, “clutter will keep a house from selling for many different reasons, one of which says person does not attend to upkeep of home.” Clutter collects stagnant energy and brings feeling of space down. The two kinds of clutter are passive and active. Examples of active clutter are scattered children's toys in a living room, or brushes, paints and accessories in an artist’s studio. Passive clutter is piles of things which have not been put away, thrown away or recycled.

Positive Energy Keeps Guests Happy Ferree has some ideas on how to invite positive "chi" (energy) into your home. Spread smells, such as vanilla, cinnamon, or citrus throughout home. Consider lighting, colors and color arrangements and clarity of a space. Work on design enhancements that welcome visitors to your space and invite them to stay a while. Ferree has one piece of final advice that applies to many situations. “Your home tells a story about you” she says, “People read story every time they visit your space. Be aware of that and put your best self forward.”

I needn't have been. Julie was kind, helpful, and very efficient. She had a broad base of knowledge about my benefit programs and sequence of procedures that I should follow. There were a few areas that seemed questionable, but she promised to get answers and get back to me. She fulfilled that promise quickly and efficiently.

Over next few weeks, which proved to be a trying period, Julie was always there for me. She helped me process paperwork, contacted proper home office departments on my behalf, and did everything she could to minimize stress involved in my recovery. "You just concentrate on getting better, I'll take care of everything at this end", she would say to me whenever things got too confusing. She really understood my distraction and took over for me when I wasn't thinking clearly. I'm sure there were times when another person would have lost her cool and become frustrated, but Julie never did.

I recently returned to work after a long rehabilitation period. I'm feeling much better now, and see and speak to Julie less often. When I think of people who were most responsible for helping me to recover, I always think of her. She took responsibility to assist me, and did a fantastic job. She knew how to handle my issues, and was masterful at effective communication. Julie is an asset to our human resources department, and reached standard that I believe all professionals in this field should strive for.
