Your Health is Your Most Prized PossessionWritten by Eric L. Huntley
Do you ever think about just how important good health really is? The decisions we make now may determine whether we have choices later. Our bodies are constantly waging a 24 hour war against a myriad of microbes and toxins that continually try to sabotage our health. Our day to day survival depends on state of our immune system. When it becomes impaired (as it often does), our risk of infections, autoimmune diseases and even cancer significantley increases - but that's just tip of iceburg. New research strongly suggests that undetected microbes can live in body for years causing everything from heart disease to obesity. Poor nutrition, stress, exposure to toxins etc., all hurt immune function.Consequently, diseases can take hold and life span is shortened and you may not even know it's happening. For example, sugar consumption impairs ability of white blood cells to destroy bacteria. Likewise, even a relatively small deficincy of iron or selenium can considerably weaken immune function and many diets are lacking in these very minerals. And before you eat that cheese burger consider fact that high fat diets can also compromise immunity.
| | Self Tanners: Your New Best Friend?Written by Danna Schneider
Have you ever known a sun worshipper, one of those people who can never seem to get a dark enough tan? They are always looking for that new product that will break their newest tanning plateau and deepen their color even more. Some of them are lucky few who's skin tans easily. They rarely burn, and after a few hours in sun, will emerge looking like most of us would after a long Caribbean vacation. The rest of us though, are left to envy these lucky few, as we know darn well a few hours in sun will wreak at least a week's worth of peeling, dry, red havoc on our skin, not to mention multitude of fine lines and wrinkles that will surely follow. That is, until past few years have produced latest and greatest generation of self tanning products. No longer do you have to suffer unnatural orange color, intensely unpleasant odor, or unsightly fading of old self tanners. Today's self tanners, at least quality ones, are formulated to give every user an even, natural tan that lasts longer, has a deep brown undertone rather than orange or red, and fades just like a real tan. There are even several good "spray" self tanning services offered by Many tanning salons for those who don't feel comfortable with self application. I've only personally tried Mystic Tan salon service, and it does look quite good for about two days, but it fades in to what looks similar to age spots or freckles (NOT very attractive I can assure you). It also can have quite an overpowering smell depending on how much of active ingredient (DHA) particular salon has device set to. Unfortunately, better your tan, stronger smell, as this is DHA at work giving your skin darker appearance. The most effective, longest lasting self tanners that produce most beautiful color are self tanning creams ( see http://cosmeticsgalore.com/best-cosmetics-online-reviews.html ). They tend to go on a lot easier, are easily blended, and result in least amount of streaking and patchiness.
