"When is Free not REALLY Free?"Written by John Evans
"When is Free not REALLY Free?" copyright 2001-02 John EvansWe all like to get something for free. Whether it's free software, free advertising, free ebooks, or free coupons, they're fun to get. But when is free REALLY free? "When there are NO strings attached!" Period. Nada. Nothing. Absolutely NONE! For instance, every once in a while, I'll click on a free offer, which only takes me to another page, and before I can really get "freebie", I have to first "click here" to see their sales pitch. Or "click here to qualify for your free ...." Qualify? THAT is a string, and there should be NO strings attached, of any kind. Because if there are "qualifications", then item JUST ISN'T FREE! How many times has this happened to you? You receive in mail an invitation to receive a free gift. And all you have to do is, 1. Take a tour of our new facility, or 2. Take a test drive, or 3.Listen to our 3 hour sales pitch?

"To Charge-Or Not To Charge-Should Be No Question!" copyright 2002 John EvansAn ezine came in a while back, and someone had complained about a particular ezine (doesn't matter which one). The publisher of ezine in question had recently stated that they would no longer be giving FREE ads; we would now have to start paying for them. The complainer said something to this effect, "These ezine publishers just sucker us in with free ads, until they get lots of subscribers, then they want to start charging us for ads." The above is not an exact quote, but you get meaning! Well, stop and think about it. Most of us on Internet ARE on Internet to MAKE MONEY! (Mind, I said MOST). Pure and simple. And that includes Ezine Publishers. And why not? They don't put their hearts and souls, and MANY hours of sweat, into putting out an ezine purely so WE can have our ads published for FREE! Do they? What are those free ads all of us have been receiving all these many months? BONUSES! You've been given bonuses before, haven't you? Maybe a free ebook for joining, or some free software for "taking a look", or maybe even a gift certificate for something.
