What's The Next 'BIG' Thing on the Internet?

Written by Chris Lee

A member asked me recently:

"What kind of projects are you working on right now? In other words, what do you think isrepparttar 'next big thing' onrepparttar 104875 Internet?"

I don't mind revealingrepparttar 104876 projects I'm working on... but obviously some 'details' are left out until they are finalized.

Also, I don't have a 'crystal ball' - but since I live, eat and breath what happens online I do have a pretty good feel for where trends are headed.

But, I thought you might be interested in my answer to this subscriber's question so I'm going to repeat it below for you.

Ok? Here goes:

Projects I'm currently investing time, energy and money on:

Blogs:: Blogs fascinate me. Are they whatrepparttar 104877 Internet was supposed to be: A personal publishing machine/network? I don't know, but they are interesting. Allan Says started a blog at http://www.secretwisdom.com and Jason Cain has produced an excellent ebook on making money with blogging and blogs at, http://www.webfindz.com/goldblog.html

(BTW- Jim Nech, a nice guy and InfoProductLab member has a testimonial on Jason's sales page. Take time to visit Jim's site- http://affiliate-facts.com and get his free report :)

The question I'm working on: Is there MONEY to be made in 'blogging'... from what I've seen so far, there is, BUT you need to have an extremely tight focus and without giving away too many ofrepparttar 104878 secrets Jason reveals in http://www.webfindz.com/goldblog.html there are many ways to profit - many that I never would have thought of.

Another resource you should check out is Dr. Mani Sivasubramanian's BlogProfits : "33 Quick Tips To Make Money From Your Blog". I highly recommend both resources.

My project and my own interest is in creating a blog for increasing my publishing profits as well as producing a report onrepparttar 104879 subject of making* mon*ey with blogs. My brother is 'blog crazy' and we had a long discussion about it overrepparttar 104880 weekend.

I'm almost ready to takerepparttar 104881 plunge myself for one reason: The directories that list blogs are incredibly EASY to get into at this point. There's even a 'search engine' that does nothing but 'index' blogs and sorepparttar 104882 chances of getting found are very, very good. What that means is that if you have a niche 'focus' for your blog you could be getting traffic to it in as little as a day or two! How easy was it to get indexed by Google in 1996-1998?? - pretty easy. That's how it is now with getting your blog indexed... if you start now - 12 months from now, it may be too late.

Another reason to blog: People are 'crazy' over reading blogs. I forgot now where I read this but it said: there are more blog readers than there are blogs!

In addition torepparttar 104883 above: I firmly believe that 'email' as a form of marketing may be permanently harmed by spam, spam filters and ISP's who are blocking a lot of legitimate email that they incorrectly identify as spam.

Most blogging software now allows you to automatically notify your readers when a new post was created using xml... this may berepparttar 104884 only why to market effectively onrepparttar 104885 Internet inrepparttar 104886 future. Finding a business model using blogging is my #1 project right now.

21st Century Business – Hand Your Tasks Over torepparttar 104881 Web By Jason OConnor © 2003 http://www.oakwebworks.com

Want to know how to put more of your revenue in your pocket AND free up time to dorepparttar 104882 important things for your business? All business owners can save time and money if they properly leveragerepparttar 104883 Web through Web services. What I am referring to is replacing recurring tasks that take employee time to accomplish with web-based services that do it automatically.

If you are a small business owner, you probably do many day-to-day tasks that take up a lot of your valuable time. Your time is better spent doingrepparttar 104884 things you’re in business for than regularly completing every little business administration chore. A common complaint I hear among small business owners is that they spend too much of their time on “business” issues like accounting or mailings instead ofrepparttar 104885 “fun stuff” that their expertise is in.

Now you can have it both ways, thanks torepparttar 104886 Web andrepparttar 104887 strength of Web services. The idea is that if you shift your time or employee time away from tasks that can be accomplished viarepparttar 104888 Web,repparttar 104889 newly saved time can be spent in more productive and lucrative ways.

I can give numerous examples of Web services for any industry, but forrepparttar 104890 sake of brevity, I will offer a few that will hopefully stimulate your own creativity.

1) Pricing

Do you have prices on your Web site that need to get updated regularly? If you have many products, and a price list that changes sometimes, it may save employee time by putting allrepparttar 104891 prices in a database (if they aren’t already) and making your Web site dynamically database driven to pullrepparttar 104892 pricing out ofrepparttar 104893 database in real-time sorepparttar 104894 pricing on your site is always current.

This saves time in a number of ways. First, if a particular price is listed in a number of areas on your site, than you have to pay someone to makerepparttar 104895 update in each place every timerepparttar 104896 price is changed, or spend your time doing this. Maybe your pricing staysrepparttar 104897 same most ofrepparttar 104898 time, but what about when you run specials and discounts?

Another way this helps is that your entire company can now refer torepparttar 104899 Web to getrepparttar 104900 most updated pricing. Let’s say you run a special and decreaserepparttar 104901 price of a product. Do you contact all your sales people and tell them aboutrepparttar 104902 discount? Do you print out a copy ofrepparttar 104903 updated price list and send it to everyone who deals with customers? By making this a Web service, you would simply change one entry in your database and refer everyone torepparttar 104904 Web to getrepparttar 104905 current price. Any company information that regularly changes and you spend time disseminating ought to be automated usingrepparttar 104906 Web.

2) Sales & Marketing

Let’s say a typical sale, whether it’s done by you or your salespeople, takes fifteen minutes to close (when speaking to an interested or ‘hot’ lead). Let’s also say that half ofrepparttar 104907 fifteen minutes is spent explaining what your product or service is or how it can help improve their lives. You find that you repeatrepparttar 104908 same basic selling points over and over again. What if you could create a Flash presentation that does this for you? The presentation could be loaded on your Web site and linked on your home page. You could refer people to this presentation and cut your sales pitch in half.
