Weight loss surgery as a last resort can successfully help severely overweight or obese people lose excess weight. There are several different types of weight loss surgeries to choose from. Consult your health care provider to discuss whether or not you make a good candidate for weight loss surgery, and which procedure would work best for you. Natural methods always work best. How Does Weight Loss Surgery Work? There are two basic types of weight loss surgery that are currently used for weight reduction. Restrictive procedures work by decreasing food intake. Malabsorptive procedures, on other hand, alter digestion, and cause food to be poorly digested and incompletely absorbed so that it is eliminated in stool. Restrictive Procedures: Restrictive weight loss surgery works by altering size of stomach, to reduce amount of food that can be consumed at one time. It does not, however, interfere with normal absorption or digestion of food. A restrictive weight loss surgery involves creation of a small stomach pouch in upper portion of stomach. The capacity of this pouch is about one half to one ounce. The pouch then connects to rest of stomach through an outlet known as a "stoma." The reduced stomach capacity allows patient to feel fuller with less food, and by decreasing overall food intake, patient can achieve sustained weight loss. The success of this weight loss surgery ultimately depends upon ability of patient to alter his or her eating habits. After surgery, it is likely that patient will only be able to consume a maximum of one half cup full of food at each sitting. Compliance with these requirements is necessary to avoid stretching pouch and defeating purpose of surgery. •Vertical Banded Gastroplasty: This is restrictive weight loss surgery in which upper stomach near esophagus is stapled vertically for about 2-1/2 inches to create a smaller stomach pouch. The outlet or stoma that connects to rest of stomach is restricted by a band or ring that slows emptying of food and allows patient to feel fuller with less food consumption. After 10 years, studies show that patients can maintain at least fifty percent of targeted excess weight loss. •Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding: This restrictive weight loss surgery, also called stomach banding, utilizes a band to divide stomach into two portions. The band is placed around upper most part of stomach, dividing stomach into a small upper portion and a larger lower portion. Because food is regulated, most patients feel full faster. Food digestion occurs through normal digestive process. This surgery can be reversed as band can easily be removed from stomach. As with other weight loss surgeries, success of this procedure is dependant on compliance of patient with a restricted diet and development of an exercise regime.

There are thousands of diet book and diet gurus offering a myriad of ideas for quick weight loss. Although some of these plans may provide short-term results, gimmicks and gadgets do not add up to a permanent weight loss solution. The quickest way to lose weight is to have patience, eat healthy, use a weight management supplement such as Slimirex, and incorporate a exercise plan into your daily activities. Eat Healthy The body needs over forty different vitamins and minerals each day in order to function properly and maintain overall good health. Eating healthy not only allows you to control your portions and lose weight, but it also helps ensure that you get nutrients your body needs to stay strong. Many people think that eating healthy means skipping meals and eating mostly bland, tasteless foods. But this is not true. Healthy eating simply means following two basic steps: variety and moderation. Variety: A healthy diet is a well-balanced one, and one that supplies ample amounts of raw fruits, vegetables, whole grains and protein. Eating a variety of foods ensures that you get a good dose of many different nutrients your body needs, and it keeps your diet interesting and easier to follow. There are so many wonderful foods to choose from that it seems silly for dieters to limit themselves to low-fat cottage cheese and broccoli. Try to range from different fruits, veggies, beans, grains, range fed organic poultry, seafood, and range fed organic meats, to make your diet delicious and nutritious. Moderation: Moderating foods you eat every day is a critical step to weight loss. It does not mean you should starve yourself or even go hungry. But it does mean that you should control size of portions you choose to eat. Eating several smaller meals throughout day (breakfast, mid morning snack ,lunch, mid afternoon snack and dinner)will help your stomach feel fuller with less food and it will ensure that you are never hungry. It's also important to remember that there are no particularly bad foods, but there are foods that you should eat or drink in smaller amounts than others. Increase Metabolism Eating raw fruit only for breakfast is best way to fuel your body and increase your metabolism. Skipping breakfast or eating breakfast later in morning will force your metabolism to slow down until system receives some fuel. You can also increase your metabolism by eating four to six smaller meals throughout day to keep body going. Don't try to starve yourself or ignore your hunger, as this will slow down your metabolism in a hurry. If you feel hungry, your body is trying to tell you that it needs food to recharge. Energy foods such as whole grains, beans, fruits and vegetables stimulate metabolism faster than high fat or high protein foods. Also, incorporate exercise into your day to rev up your metabolism. In addition to a simple workout routine, you can park further away from your office or grocery store, and walk distance. Take your dog for a walk when you get home. Use stairs instead of elevator whenever possible, and do more activities around house to burn calories and increase your metabolism. Also, be sure to chew every bite of food at least 25 times before swallowing.
