In ancient times, accepting a wedding ring constituted a legally binding agreement between husband and wife. The wife became property of husband, a holding of sorts. It also represented protection to wife—a protection against challengers seizing her legal and rightful position in a power grab.

Early Egyptian wedding rings were simple circular bands, crudely crafted from indigenous materials such as hemp and reeds. The lifespan of average wedding ring was approximately one year. It's a safe bet that average marriage outlasted average wedding band, since eternal circle signified eternal love and devotion. The circle also represented joining of two halves to create a whole. The hole in center symbolized gateway to unknown—the future. Wedding bands of ivory, leather, and other sturdy materials were crafted by those who desired a more permanent token of eternity.

Metals replaced earlier hemp and reed wedding bands. The early Romans moved to lead, while other civilizations chose brass and copper. Eventually, gold emerged as metal of choice. In fact, early Irish couples insisted on gold, as any other material was thought to bring bad luck at best, and constitute an illegal marriage at worst. For couples unable to afford gold wedding bands, gold wedding rings were secured for service and returned immediately afterward.

I'll be first to admit how totally clueless about women's needs, love and relationships most of us men can be. Sometimes women believe that we're just insensitive pigs, but truth often is, we're just clueless about what she's talking about. Anyway, here's how I somehow got a clue about a few things; hope this helps guys or women, guy in your life!

A few weeks ago, one of my wife's sisters was getting married, so all others chipped in to help best way they could. As luck would have it, task of preparing for wedding shower fell to my wife.

Now my schedule was already filled with various assignments but anyhow, I decided to totally clear it for day, and help her as best as I could. Needless to say, she was totally surprised because she knew I had a few important things to do that day. I personally didn't mind because they were not urgent and I just wanted to help her out.

When we got to room, it was a total mess, so we set about trying to clean it up before we decorated. As we mopped and swept together, we chatted. As we decorated, hung balloons, decorated tables and made floral arrangements together we chatted and laughed endlessly. Late in afternoon we left room tired, but happy.

After refreshing ourselves we headed back to party, and even though I was tired, I still helped with entertainment, food serving, and clean-up afterwards.

When we finally left, we returned home totally exhausted and immediately fell asleep.

Over next few days, I noticed and incredible increase in intimacy and passion. It was as if my wife was falling over herself to please me. She was bubbly, excited and sex was "WOW". She even found time to work on a few projects with me. I was speechless to say least.
