Was there a Better Way?

Written by Thomas Yoon

Whenever, we have a task or project to carry out don't we always look forrepparttar most capable person to lead us? And ifrepparttar 126616 task were supposed to follow a set pattern, don't we like to stick to time-tested methods that worked allrepparttar 126617 time?

But sometimes events happen so quickly that it takes our breath away. When things do not go as we planned, tempers flare up, moods become dampened, and we so quickly become irritated - especially if it was caused by last minute permission changes, which could so easily be overruled if onlyrepparttar 126618 person in authority would take a softer stand.

Yes, it happened to me recently.

My fellow facilitators and I had been conducting a 32-week "Becoming Disciples through Bible Study" program forrepparttar 126619 past year and now we had organized a year-end retreat as a climax of repparttar 126620 study forrepparttar 126621 participants. It was so very important that we do it right. The retreat schedule was very carefully planned.

The culmination ofrepparttar 126622 retreat will end with a mass, whererepparttar 126623 priest will give his blessing for those who wanted to become facilitators forrepparttar 126624 next year and so send forth to dorepparttar 126625 work.

However, this time, it was different fromrepparttar 126626 previous years. In our first year, we hadrepparttar 126627 retreat at Stella Maris, an old 3-storey building where tables, chairs, sound system, and many other essential items for holdingrepparttar 126628 retreat were not in place. I could remember howrepparttar 126629 older participants would have to struggle uprepparttar 126630 staircase whilerepparttar 126631 facilitators had to carry tables and chairs up and downrepparttar 126632 stairs. Setting uprepparttar 126633 sound system and OHP was also a struggle forrepparttar 126634 facilitators.

Inrepparttar 126635 subsequent years, we had it in one ofrepparttar 126636 beach hotels. It was excellent forrepparttar 126637 first time, butrepparttar 126638 cost went uprepparttar 126639 following year and it was not so affordable for many ofrepparttar 126640 participants. However, everything went according to plan andrepparttar 126641 hotel staffs were able to accommodate any urgent requests that cropped up.

Butrepparttar 126642 other hotel patrons andrepparttar 126643 general public were doing their own thing, organizing their own functions and making noises in and aroundrepparttar 126644 hotel area! This year, somebody suggested to use a new building that was build on one ofrepparttar 126645 church ground. This church is very well-known, large and grand. The church ground is spacious, contains lush greenery, hill slopes, and is so beautiful. For many of us, it was an ideal place for retreats. And it was relatively cheap.

Allrepparttar 126646 facilities forrepparttar 126647 retreat were there - single-storey comfortable rooms, spacious function room, sound systems, short distances from our homes, plenty of open spaces for reflection and Taize, and low cost - it seem a perfect place.

But we found out that there were some difficulties too. Some ofrepparttar 126648 older participants wanted to attend mass duringrepparttar 126649 retreat. This would never have happen ifrepparttar 126650 retreat were held away from church grounds. Anyway, this was not a big problem.

Our greatest blow came when we were told byrepparttar 126651 parish priest that we could not have a separate mass atrepparttar 126652 end ofrepparttar 126653 retreat and that mass must be held together withrepparttar 126654 parish congregation. The reason -repparttar 126655 chapel that we had intended to holdrepparttar 126656 mass was not blessed yet.

Immediately, there was uproar from amongst our facilitators, knowing that masses had been conducted before at homes of people that has not been blessed. Most of us could not seerepparttar 126657 validity of repparttar 126658 reason given.

“Appointed Time: Passover”

This is a continuation ofrepparttar study on “Appointed Time(s).” This series concludes after studyingrepparttar 126615 seven festivals ofrepparttar 126616 Messiah. Why do I detail these seven feasts? I do so because they illustraterepparttar 126617 life and reign of Jesus better thanrepparttar 126618 spoken word ofrepparttar 126619 Prophets of old orrepparttar 126620 written word ofrepparttar 126621 Apostles ofrepparttar 126622 New Testament, in my opinion. You will have opportunity to judge this for yourself after concluding this series. I pray thatrepparttar 126623 Father God Almighty will open your eyes to see Jesus more clearly today than yesterday. This I ask in Jesus’ name!

Introduction: And ye shall observe this thing [Passover] for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever. …And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service? That ye shall say, It isrepparttar 126624 sacrifice ofrepparttar 126625 Lord’s Passover, who passed overrepparttar 126626 houses ofrepparttar 126627 children of Israel in Egypt… (Exodus 12:24,26-27).

God declared Passover to be a permanent celebration for all eternity. Historically, Passover celebrates God’s deliverance ofrepparttar 126628 children of Israel from bondage in Egypt, where they were slaves torepparttar 126629 Egyptians. The spiritual application that God wants us to understand is this: Egypt is a type ofrepparttar 126630 world andrepparttar 126631 world’s system. Its ruler, Pharaoh, was a type of Satan. The bondage people are in when they live according torepparttar 126632 ways ofrepparttar 126633 world’s system is sin. Historically, repparttar 126634 children of Israel were delivered fromrepparttar 126635 bondage in Egypt by puttingrepparttar 126636 blood of a lamb uponrepparttar 126637 doorposts of their houses. Spiritually, this is a picture of Messiah and how those who believe in Him are delivered fromrepparttar 126638 bondages of sin andrepparttar 126639 rule of Satan in their lives. Yeshua (Jesus) isrepparttar 126640 Lamb of God (John 1:29). He is also our Passover (I Corinthians 5:7). Those who follow Yeshua arerepparttar 126641 house of God (Hebrews 3:6). The doorposts are our hearts. It is only through trusting by faith inrepparttar 126642 shed blood of Yeshua, our Passover, that we are free fromrepparttar 126643 bondage of sin (Galatians 4:3-5,9).

During Passover, repparttar 126644 head of each household was to take a lamb ofrepparttar 126645 first year onrepparttar 126646 10th day ofrepparttar 126647 first month known as Nisan and set it aside untilrepparttar 126648 14th day. Inrepparttar 126649 evening ofrepparttar 126650 14th day, at exactly 3:00 PM,repparttar 126651 lamb was to be killed. The blood ofrepparttar 126652 lamb was to be sprinkled onrepparttar 126653 lintel and two side posts ofrepparttar 126654 household door. The lamb was to be roasted with fire, with bitter herbs, and with unleavened bread, andrepparttar 126655 entire household was to feast uponrepparttar 126656 body ofrepparttar 126657 lamb. The people were instructed by God to eatrepparttar 126658 lamb with haste and to be dressed and ready to leave Egypt atrepparttar 126659 midnight hour. This would berepparttar 126660 15th day of Nisan. At midnight on that fateful evening in Egypt, death passed throughrepparttar 126661 land. Every house that did not haverepparttar 126662 token ofrepparttar 126663 blood onrepparttar 126664 doorposts and lintel sufferedrepparttar 126665 judgment of God. The Hebrew word for Passover is Pesach, which means “to pass or hover over.” This word speaks to us about two things. First, it showsrepparttar 126666 passing over in judgment from death and sin to life in Yeshua. Second, it tells us about allowing, by faith, repparttar 126667 blood of Yeshua to hover over our lives and give us divine protection fromrepparttar 126668 evil one.

Significant Points About Passover… 1.Passover wasrepparttar 126669 beginning of months. Just as receiving Jesus into our lives isrepparttar 126670 beginning of a New Covenant, Nisan was to berepparttar 126671 first month ofrepparttar 126672 religious calendar. Repenting of our sins and believing inrepparttar 126673 shed blood of Jesus is our first step in our relationship with God. 2.The lamb was hidden for four days. Messianic fulfillment—God commanded Israel to take a lamb onrepparttar 126674 10th day of Nisan and set it aside untilrepparttar 126675 14th day. These four days were fulfilled by Jesus duringrepparttar 126676 Passover week. Remember, Jesus isrepparttar 126677 Lamb of God. He entered Jerusalem and went torepparttar 126678 temple, which isrepparttar 126679 house of God, and went on public display there for four days from Nisan 10 to Nisan 14. Regardingrepparttar 126680 Second Coming ofrepparttar 126681 Lord (Eschatology), these four days thatrepparttar 126682 Lamb was hidden is prophetic ofrepparttar 126683 people’s expectations thatrepparttar 126684 Messiah would come 4,000 years fromrepparttar 126685 creation of Adam as part ofrepparttar 126686 7,000-year plan of God to redeem both man andrepparttar 126687 earth back to how things were inrepparttar 126688 Garden of Eden (Mishnah, San Hedrin 97-98). These four days are prophetic ofrepparttar 126689 Messiah being hid fromrepparttar 126690 world and not coming to earth for four days or 4,000 years fromrepparttar 126691 creation of Adam. A day is understood to be prophetic of a 1,000 years, based upon Psalm 90:4 (II Peter 3:8) to each day in creation. God ordained each day in creation to be prophetic of a thousand years of time andrepparttar 126692 entire redemption to take 7,000 years to complete fromrepparttar 126693 fall of man inrepparttar 126694 Garden Eden (Genesis 1:1, 5, 8, 13, 19, 23, 31; 2:1-3).
