WHY THIS DVD WON'T PLAY IN MY MACHINE ?

WHY THIS DVD WON'T PLAY IN MY MACHINE ?

They're supposed to play EVERYTHING! The salesman andrepparttar catalogue promised you that THIS machine can handle DVD's, CD's, MP3's, JPG's VCD, CD-R's, etc etc etc.

But that DVD movie you bought onrepparttar 109952 internet from overseas absolutely refuses to play. With or without an accompanying error message onrepparttar 109953 TV screen , you wonder whether you have just wasted good money.

But who to blame ? Mayberepparttar 109954 disc itself was faulty ? Perhapsrepparttar 109955 salesman lied about whatrepparttar 109956 machine could do ?

None ofrepparttar 109957 above ! The disc is not faulty andrepparttar 109958 salesman didn't lie, though I guarantee he didn't give yourepparttar 109959 full story.

There are 2 compatibility issues to consider with DVD discs that you obtain from overseas. Both conditions need to be satisfied forrepparttar 109960 disc to play !

REGIONS

The first is REGIONS (or zones).

Your DVD manual will tell you what region your machine is. Many machines also have a region logo atrepparttar 109961 back. If your DVD player is multi-zone, congratulations, it will play all discs from all countries. Multi-zone is also known as "region zero".

However, if your machine is region locked,it can ONLY play discs with that particular region code. Ifrepparttar 109962 regions don't match, repparttar 109963 disc won't play. The most common locked regions are region 1 (USA), region 2 (UK- Europe) and region 4 (Australia). I should emphasise here that this issue only applies to foreign discs. The retailers in your country will only sell DVD's in your local region designation.

There is an important exception to this rule - some DVD discs are released as "region zero" or "region-free"or "all-regions". These DVD's will play fine in any region-locked machine.

BYPASSING THE REGION LOCKING

About half of all locked DVD players can be permanently unlocked viarepparttar 109964 remote control. It depends onrepparttar 109965 brand and model. But don't go searching forrepparttar 109966 magic button because it's not there -repparttar 109967 models that can be unlocked require a unique special sequence of key- presses to be entered. The code-sequences are one of those ridiculous pretend secrets that consumers are not meant to be aware of - but if you askrepparttar 109968 salesman, orrepparttar 109969 local company distributor, or findrepparttar 109970 right website, repparttar 109971 information can be obtained in a short amount of time.

This is because atrepparttar 109972 DVD factoryrepparttar 109973 machines earmarked for various countries are basicallyrepparttar 109974 same, except forrepparttar 109975 electrical plug and a few software settings such asrepparttar 109976 region code egrepparttar 109977 machines destined for Australia are software locked to 4,repparttar 109978 machines destined forrepparttar 109979 USA are software locked to region 1. By discovering and enteringrepparttar 109980 special sequence, you are basically emulating what they do atrepparttar 109981 factory and alteringrepparttar 109982 region coding. So a person inrepparttar 109983 USA who has just bought a region 4 disc from Australia can alterrepparttar 109984 region coding on their player to region 4, or more conveniently, region zero, which means all-regions are accepted. Once made, repparttar 109985 change is written torepparttar 109986 machine's long- term memory and does not need to be re-entered even ifrepparttar 109987 player is switched off.

PAL-NTSC

The SECOND compatibility issue with DVD's isrepparttar 109988 TV signal.

The DVD player generates a signal and send it to your TV set.

PAL and NTSC are 2 types of TV signal.

Japan andrepparttar 109989 USA use NTSC signals. The PAL system is used by Australia, repparttar 109990 UK and Europe. These signals were decided upon by governments 50 years ago.

Practically all PAL and NTSC DVD's will play fine throughout Australia, UK and Europe. This is becauserepparttar 109991 DVD's and TV sets sold throughout these countries are dual PAL and NTSC compatible.

THE PAL-NTSC issue is really only an issue for USA and Canada customers. Certain brands of TV set and DVD players withinrepparttar 109992 USA do not handle PAL signals at all, while others handle it badly (eg black and white image).

Play Blackjack Like a Pro

If you don't have much Blackjack experience, it can be daunting stepping up torepparttar tables for a game. You can, however, hiderepparttar 109951 fact of your inexperience very simply by remembering these straightforward rules. (Note -repparttar 109952 rules of BlackJack will differ from area to area and from casino to casino, butrepparttar 109953 general principles arerepparttar 109954 same. When in doubt, ask!). A typical BlackJack table seats a dealer and up to 7 players. Starting withrepparttar 109955 dealer, repparttar 109956 first seat on his left is '1st Base', whilerepparttar 109957 first seat on his right is referred to as 3rd Base. In front of each player's seat is a betting square, printed onrepparttar 109958 felt. Right in front ofrepparttar 109959 dealer isrepparttar 109960 chip tray, while on his left isrepparttar 109961 deck (a.k.a. shoe) and next to that is the' minimum bet sign', which tells you how 'expensive'repparttar 109962 table is. As a beginner, you will want to stick torepparttar 109963 low bet tables to keep any losses under control. Onrepparttar 109964 dealer's right is a money drop slot. This is a security feature - casinos don't really trust their employees, and all cash and chips are deposited here to prevent 'leakage'.

Next torepparttar 109965 drop slot is what's known asrepparttar 109966 'discard tray'. Play starts afterrepparttar 109967 dealer shufflesrepparttar 109968 cards, repparttar 109969 deck is 'cut' by a player using a 'marker card' (NOTrepparttar 109970 bare hand), and finallyrepparttar 109971 dealer 'burns' a card (or throws it away in order to ensure randomness). Beforerepparttar 109972 cards are dealt, you make your bet by placing chips or cash intorepparttar 109973 betting box. Be aware that you can sit out a hand or 2 if you like - maybe you need a break, orrepparttar 109974 dealer is just on a lucky streak. Note that ifrepparttar 109975 casino is busy, you may be asked to give up your seat so another punter can take your place (or alternatively resumerepparttar 109976 game yourself). If you really don't want to play, just get up and vacaterepparttar 109977 seat - you can always come back later!

When all players who want to play in this round have placed a bet, 2cards will be dealt to each player going from left to right. Some casinos dealrepparttar 109978 cards face down. Elsewhererepparttar 109979 cards are dealt face up, in which case NEVER touch them -repparttar 109980 assumption if you do is that you are cheating! The dealer deals himself 2 cards - 1 down and 1 up. Card values are, as everyone knows, 10 Jack Queen and King are worth 10, an Ace is worth 1 or 11, all other cards are worth their face values. In noisy casinos, be prepared to use hand signals to indicate whether you want to hit or stand.

How do you indicate 'hit'? Ifrepparttar 109981 cards are dealt face down, flickrepparttar 109982 cards gently acrossrepparttar 109983 felt 2 times. Ifrepparttar 109984 cards were dealt face up, point atrepparttar 109985 cards with your finger in a jabbing style. You can nod your head to emphasiserepparttar 109986 desire for a hit. If you'd prefer to stand, move your hand horizontally from left to right (palm down) to indicate 'no'. Always keep your hands a few inches offrepparttar 109987 table to avoid suspicion. If you like, you can emphasiserepparttar 109988 stand by shaking your head 'no' atrepparttar 109989 same time.

Should you play single or multiple deck games? Only in Vegas do they still play single deck, andrepparttar 109990 tables are usually full - it is much easier for amateurs to 'count' in a single game, and keeprepparttar 109991 odds pretty fair, which explains their popularity. Multiple deck games will usually be based on even number of decks (up to 8 decks inrepparttar 109992 shoe at a time). Multiple decks allowrepparttar 109993 dealer to deal more hands per hour (less shuffling etc), which makes them more profitable forrepparttar 109994 casino, and they reducerepparttar 109995 chances of a player 'counting'. Dealers HAVE to follow straightforward rules, and must hit if they have 16 or less. Onrepparttar 109996 other hand, ifrepparttar 109997 dealer has 17 or more, he MUST stand, except in some smaller casinos, where he can hit on a 'soft 17'.
