WEEKLY WISDOM NEWSLETTER Vocalized goals + Action=Realized Dreams December 10, 2003

Do you have a dream? Is there something you want to do, to achieve, or to complete?

How close are you? How many people have you told about it? Do you have a written plan on how to get there?

Andrepparttar most important question – Are you taking action?

This much is absolutely true: If you never vocalize your dreams, and you never come up with evenrepparttar 101709 most rudimentary plan on achieving them; and if you never take action I can guarantee that those dreams will never happen.

However I can tell you this as well. Many times in my life I have come up with a dream that appealed to me and then made it happen. The most important part is that no one made it happen but me.

Sure I had lots of help alongrepparttar 101710 way. And yes, there were many apparent ‘lucky’ breaks just when they seemed to be neededrepparttar 101711 most. This will happen to you as well.

Let me tell you why. I believe with all my heart that we are part ofrepparttar 101712 energy ofrepparttar 101713 Universe. This energy that makes uprepparttar 101714 Universe answers to us in a way, and in fact wants desperately to help us in any way possible. When we express a desire, and then take action towards that desire, repparttar 101715 Universe has no choice but to help us achieve it!

That assistance will come in ways we would never have thought of! But come it will!

One ofrepparttar 101716 latest goals completed for me was completing a roof on our new barn. This might not sound like a lot, but I assure you it is. To complete this goal, we had to clear more than 2 acres of land, clean it up and plant it in grass. 4500 feet of siding lumber had to be cut fromrepparttar 101717 logs and stacked to air dry. Over 60 stumps, andrepparttar 101718 roots and debris fromrepparttar 101719 trees had to be piled and burned. The barn had to be designed, drawn and allrepparttar 101720 materials bought and delivered. (BTW, this is no little barn. It has 4 stalls with two 1100 square foot apartments over it!)

Rememberrepparttar "Type A Personality"? First labeled because a cardiologist found allrepparttar 101708 front ends ofrepparttar 101709 seats in his waiting room were worn. The “Type As,” so prone to heart attacks, couldn’t sit back and relax for even a second.

Overrepparttar 101710 years, in working with Type A personalities (and lately, those with "Achiever" onrepparttar 101711 StrengthsFinder(tm) profile) who want to get more balance in their lives, I’ve learnedrepparttar 101712 ways ofrepparttar 101713 Super Efficient who lack balance, sacrifice pleasure and esthetics for efficiency, and know how to churn it out.

Say what you will, their trains run on time!

If you need more time, try these things. If this becomes a lifestyle, get some coaching.

1. Fix your hair once and for all.

Cut it all off or let it grow long so you can slap it up, or wear it any length and accept it inrepparttar 101714 wash and dry mode. Eliminate makeup.

2. Buy efficient containers.

Type As will tell you how much time is “wasted” in getting into things. It takes less time to flip a cap onrepparttar 101715 shower wash than to unscrew it; less time to pull-tabrepparttar 101716 coffee can than to use a can opener; less time to zip and Velcro than to button; less time to open a new CD with a CD-opener than whatever other d*** thing you try. Leaverepparttar 101717 top offrepparttar 101718 lotion tube. It won't dry out.

3. Eliminate needless decisions.

Fix your work wardrobe so it will work with one pair of shoes and one set of earrings. Haverepparttar 101719 same thing for breakfast every day. Make Saturday morning grocery shopping day. Washrepparttar 101720 car every Sunday afternoon. No exceptions.

4. Focus on purpose and speed in daily maintenance regime and just get them done.

Awaiting an important phone call last week, which of course came when I stepped intorepparttar 101721 shower, I was out and clean – including hair – in time to catch it onrepparttar 101722 4th ring. Why are you spending 20 minutes in there? Same soap, same scrub, I just didn’t enjoy it. P.S. Get good bath and shower mats sorepparttar 101723 rubber can hitrepparttar 101724 road at top speed. Then you can really go fast. And buy thick towels; it takes less time to dry yourself with a good towel. 5. Streamline your Search and Seizure Mission.

Spend this week cataloguingrepparttar 101725 things you’re always hunting for - and note how much time it takes. Then make a place for them and keep them there. i.e., get allrepparttar 101726 medicines in one place, get allrepparttar 101727 laundry supplies together, ALWAYS put your keys onrepparttar 101728 kitchen counter.

One Achiever I work with keeps all his clothes on shelves inrepparttar 101729 bedroom - no drawers to open, and he can see everything.
