Traditional vs. New Age Self Defense

Traditional vs. New Age Self Defense

The alternative self defense product, stun gun, requires a bit of introduction. A lot of people when they first hearrepparttar term “stun gun”, they actually think ofrepparttar 129762 little gadget featured in many science fiction movies. In fact, self defense technology has come a long way.

For a long time, if one wanted to protect themselves, they would have to spend years of time practicing martial arts or self defense techniques. In fact, it is stillrepparttar 129763 ultimate way of self defense. If one can masterrepparttar 129764 skill, it becomes built into your body. You can use it anytime, anywhere and nobody can take it away from you. However, repparttar 129765 downside is that it takes a lot of discipline and time to master.

Later, repparttar 129766 firearm became a popular way of self protection. Guns are no doubt a very effective method of protection if one is properly trained to aim and shoot accurately, and if one is able to facerepparttar 129767 permanent consequences of their split-second decision to take a life. If one is unable to shoot with accuracy, a determined assailant can continue to attack. Unfortunately, a fatal shot isrepparttar 129768 only guarantee to stop an assailant with a gun. A life or death decision must be made inrepparttar 129769 matter of an instance while knowingrepparttar 129770 consequences of your actions cannot be reversed.

Non-lethal self defense weapons can be very useful in stopping an assailant while not causing permanent damage. These too have limitations. The personal alarm might be effective if someone was around to hear it. Even so, most of us have grown accustomed to loud alarms and rarely do we act upon them. Pepper spray is another option for non-lethal self-defense. Pepper spray can be very effective ifrepparttar 129771 attacker gets very close and you happen to haverepparttar 129772 pepper spray aimed to their eyes. The close proximity and limited target area make pepper spray less than ideal.

Our very last option would be a stun gun. A common myth aboutrepparttar 129773 stun gun is that when held against an attacker, repparttar 129774 attacker will fall torepparttar 129775 ground immediately. This is not howrepparttar 129776 stun gun works. When a stun gun touches both probes againstrepparttar 129777 assailant’s body for ½ second, it will startlerepparttar 129778 assailant, giving him some pain, muscular contraction and shock. For 1-2 seconds, it will cause muscle spasms and a dazed mental state. For 3-5 seconds, it will cause loss of balance and muscle control, total mental confusion and disorientation, leaving him dazed. (Under no conditions can you suffer a charge back to your own body, even ifrepparttar 129779 assailant touches you while you are using a stun gun on him.) As you can see, it will take 3-5 seconds for a stun gun to knock downrepparttar 129780 assailant. To be honest, 3-5 seconds is a very long time in a desperate situation. Now, you may ask, why would I need a stun gun then? Well, would you rather have something that would work but take a little time or nothing but your bare hands? Would you want a device that you can use with very little training? Would you rather have a mechanism that is non-lethal or one that causes death? Do you want protection without a license or waiting period?

If you do anything / different / beyond others expectations in your work on your own way or private life that impacts someone else, Criticism is always possible, and likely. When you get criticized, do you view it as failure or opportunity? It’s not what you know that makesrepparttar difference in how you handlerepparttar 129759 criticism and confrontations, but how you apply & utilize what you know. Criticism is real worth comes form its ability to communicate to influence or to motivate others. The Word criticism comes fromrepparttar 129760 Greek word “Kritikos” which meansrepparttar 129761 ability to discern or judgerepparttar 129762 merits and demerits and speak accordingly. Well allrepparttar 129763 hope will be treated withrepparttar 129764 matter & admiration. However most people experienced criticism inrepparttar 129765 ways that are blaming and shaming. We enjoy criticizing politicians, social systems and anything that is directly or indirectly makes impact on us. We, at times, don’t know how to react to criticism constructively. Commonly we belong to : a] Scream b] Yell, C] threaten. And believe that that isrepparttar 129766 best way for getting work done. There is nothing wrong in criticizing Butrepparttar 129767 destructive criticism isrepparttar 129768 problem, which only identifiesrepparttar 129769 problem and not offer / provide solutions or self involvement. The objective of criticism must be on challenge or opportunity that outwit each other. The billion dollar question is “ Why we Criticize?” Well, when we have common concern or values but different perceptions. Criticism can be very destructive e.g. (“you are useless, duffer.” “you are a looser”, “you can’t do things right”…..) specially in parent-child relationship. If parent says to his child “you can” then he perform even if others deny. But destructively says “You can’t then he will not even if other billions of people says he can.
