We are all as an unclean thing; all our righteousnesses as filthy rags. Isaiah 64:6

lasciviousness: to work all uncleanness with greediness. Ephes. 4:19

Idolatry: stubbornness. 1 Samuel 15:23

witchcraft: rebellion. 1 Samuel 15:23

hatred: bloodthirsty. Proverbs 29:10; shedding innocent blood. Ezekiel 35:5

variance: causing division. Matthew 10:35

emulations: casting away.

God forbid ... if by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them. For if casting away of them be reconciling of world, what shall receiving of them be, but life from dead? Romans 11:11-15

wrath: The law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. Romans 4:15

strife: Some preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will. Philip. 1:15

seditions: a pestilent fellow (a mover of sedition); gone about to profane temple: judging according to our law. Acts 24:5-6

heresies: false teachings. 2 Peter 2:1

Envyings: slaying. Job 5:2; hating one another. Titus 3:3

They slay widow and stranger. Psalm 94:6; desolate. 1 Tim. 5:5; pilgrims. 1 Peter 2:11

murders: hate toward our brothers. 1 John 3:15

They murder fatherless. Psalm 94:6; oppressed. Psalm 10:18; him that had none to help him. Job 29:12

Pure religion and undefiled before God and Father is this, To visit fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from world. James 1:27

And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against sorcerers, and against adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress hireling in his wages, widow, and fatherless, and that turn aside stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith Lord of hosts. Malachi 3:5

revellings: Thou shalt not revile gods, nor curse ruler of thy people. Exodus 22:28

Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you (persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely), for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they prophets which were before you. Matthew 5:11-12

Know What You Believe

When we seek to know about God instead of knowing Him, our knowledge will never be complete.

Ever learning, and never able to come to knowledge of truth. 2 Ti. 3:7

Human understanding of scripture is not same as was God's intent.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith Lord. For as heavens are higher than earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. Is. 55:8-9

In fact, your thoughts aren't even yours, but ideas Satan planted to detour you from all that is true.

Commit thy works unto Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established. Pr. 16:3

Neither do teachers always have it right.

Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines commandments of men. Mk. 7:7

It isn't enough to have head knowledge ...

And ye shall 'know' truth ... Jn. 8:32

And only way you can 'know' what you believe is to have heard it from God ...

The natural man receiveth not things of Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 1 Co. 2:14

As He reveals it to you.

Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them abundance of peace and truth. Je. 33:6

We make ourselves most teachable once we stop telling God what He believes, then get our lessons from Him.

Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. 1 Pe. 1:23

And, we are not to do anything toward prohibiting this spiritual growth in others.

Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is kingdom of heaven. Mt. 19:14

The Old Testament Still Counts

Being New Testament hadn't yet been completed, one can conclude that 52 N.T. references to 'scripture(s)' supported continuing in faith of Old Testament writings.

To limit our study to N.T. doctrine omits full testimony of Jesus.

Search scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. Jn. 5:39

It is Old Testament writings that teach us truths about who God is ...

Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing scriptures, nor power of God. Mt. 22:29

And same writings that give us hope, in our time of need.

For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of scriptures might have hope. Ro. 15:4

To limit application of O.T. scripture separates us from knowing true intent of God's heart and His counsel for meeting our needs.

The counsel of Lord standeth for ever, thoughts of his heart to all generations. Ps. 33:11

Don't Put God in a Box

There is no such thing as 'taking scripture out of context' ...

And that from a child thou hast known holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: 2 Ti. 3:15-16

unless you're speaking when God didn't send you.

I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied. But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from evil of their doings. Je. 23:21-22

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Mt. 24:35

Therefore, behold, I am against prophets, saith Lord, that steal my words every one from his neighbour. Behold, I am against prophets, saith Lord, that use their tongues, and say, He saith. Je. 23:30-31
