By Robin Nobles

Typical ofrepparttar professionalism of FirstPlace Software, they've waited to release WebPosition Gold 2 ( until all possible bugs could be found and corrected, so it seems like forever that we've been waiting for this release. However, for those of us "die hard" Gold fans, repparttar 128033 wait has been well worth it.

Let's take a quick walk through ofrepparttar 128034 program and discuss my favorite features as well as changes made in each area.

By far my favorite feature of Gold, Reporter will now report your rankings across an impressive 85 world-wide search engines and directories.

Some other new and exciting features include:

* You can now easily mail copies ofrepparttar 128035 report to your clients, even going so far as to ZIPrepparttar 128036 file.

* You can automatically upload reports to your Web site.

* You can conserve disk space by checking an option to deleterepparttar 128037 actual downloaded page afterrepparttar 128038 reports are generated.

* You can even filter out non-ranking keywords fromrepparttar 128039 report, so thatrepparttar 128040 report you send to your clients will be even more impressive!

* "Visibility Statistics" are now included atrepparttar 128041 top ofrepparttar 128042 Concise Summary Report that will let you know how many top ranking pages you have as well as other valuable statistics. ? Under Options, you're givenrepparttar 128043 choice of being courteous to each engine by waiting a certain period of time between searches.

Page Generator

While reviewing this program, I created a few pages using Page Generator, which is a feature of Gold 2 that helps you build pages.

This portion of Gold has gotten criticism inrepparttar 128044 past becauserepparttar 128045 engines don't want to see "machine-generated" pages. However, Gold 2's Page Generator doesn't produce anything remotely "machine generated." You have to createrepparttar 128046 content, designrepparttar 128047 page, and chooserepparttar 128048 keywords. You simply createrepparttar 128049 page from within a form, rather than on a blank HTML page.

After creating one ofrepparttar 128050 pages, I ran it through Page Critic, then submitted it through Inktomi's pay inclusion program. Within a couple of days, I was already seeing top 10 results across many ofrepparttar 128051 engines.

Isrepparttar 128052 page a "doorway page"? Any page on your entire site is virtually a doorway into your site. Doesrepparttar 128053 page provide value torepparttar 128054 Internet, and would it be interesting and valuable to Net users? Yes. Page Generator just made it easier for me to createrepparttar 128055 page.

Page Critic

Page Critic is designed to look at your pages and offer suggestions in a variety of areas, such as word count, keyword prominence, keyword frequency, and keyword weight. Critic then offers specific suggestions that will help you create a page that is close torepparttar 128056 statistical averages of other top ranking pages for that particular search engine. Under General Suggestions, you'll find a running list of news, tips, and suggestions related torepparttar 128057 engine.

Search Engine Marketing 101: What Search Engines See When They Visit Your Web Site

by Robin Nobles

If you have a Web site, have you ever wondered what a search engine sees when it visits your site to addrepparttar site to its index? Do you know that it doesn't seerepparttar 128032 beautiful graphics orrepparttar 128033 fancy Web design? Do you know that it only seesrepparttar 128034 source code, orrepparttar 128035 "skeleton" of your Web site?

Do you realize that knowing this little tidbit of information and doing something about it can make a huge difference in your search engine rankings and, ultimately, repparttar 128036 success of your online business?

One very important thing that you need to remember is:repparttar 128037 search engines like simplicity. The simpler your Web site is,repparttar 128038 easier it is forrepparttar 128039 engine to determine what your Web site is about. And, ifrepparttar 128040 search engine can determine exactly what your Web site is about, you have a better chance at top rankings underrepparttar 128041 keyword phrases that are important for your online business.

Let's look at this concept in action with a page I recently created for one of my online businesses: Search Engine Workshops. seminars.html

As you can see, it's a very plain, simple page that was not created to berepparttar 128042 "main" or "home" page of a Web site. Rather, it was created to pull in traffic throughrepparttar 128043 keyword phrase, "search engine seminars."

What I really want you to see isrepparttar 128044 source code ofrepparttar 128045 page. So, when viewingrepparttar 128046 page, click on View onrepparttar 128047 top menu bar, then Source or Source Code.

The most important part of a Web page is what appears atrepparttar 128048 very top ofrepparttar 128049 page. Why? Because a search engine starts atrepparttar 128050 top ofrepparttar 128051 page and begins moving down as it indexes.

So, what appears inrepparttar 128052 section of your Web page is very important, becauserepparttar 128053 section is atrepparttar 128054 top ofrepparttar 128055 page.

Let's look atrepparttar 128056 section ofrepparttar 128057 source code:

Search Engine Seminars--your path to success on<IMG height=12 src="/the2.jpg" alt="repparttar 128058"> Web! top ofrepparttar 128060 rankings?">

There are only three tags inrepparttar 128061 section of this Web page:repparttar 128062 title tag, repparttar 128063 keyword META tag, andrepparttar 128064 description META tag. Becauserepparttar 128065 title tag is inrepparttar 128066 section, and because ofrepparttar 128067 importance that most engines place onrepparttar 128068 tag, it is considered one ofrepparttar 128069 most important tags on your page, so it should always berepparttar 128070 first tag inrepparttar 128071 section.

Notice that inrepparttar 128072 title and keyword META tag, repparttar 128073 important keyword phrase (search engine seminars) appears asrepparttar 128074 first words inrepparttar 128075 tag. Inrepparttar 128076 description META tag, repparttar 128077 keyword phrase is still towardrepparttar 128078 beginning ofrepparttar 128079 tag, as opposed torepparttar 128080 end.

In other words, where you place your keyword phrase inrepparttar 128081 tags and content of your page is important. If you place your keyword phrase towardrepparttar 128082 beginning of all of your important tags and towardrepparttar 128083 beginning ofrepparttar 128084 contents, you're "proving" torepparttar 128085 engines thatrepparttar 128086 page is really about that particular topic.

I've mentioned one reason whyrepparttar 128087 title tag is important, but there's another reason too. The title tag is important because it almost always appears asrepparttar 128088 title ofrepparttar 128089 site inrepparttar 128090 search engine results. Your description META tag may appear inrepparttar 128091 search engine results as well and is considered important byrepparttar 128092 some ofrepparttar 128093 engines. So, when you create your title and description tags, remember two things: put your keyword phrase towardrepparttar 128094 beginning ofrepparttar 128095 tags, and makerepparttar 128096 tags captivating and designed to pull in traffic.

Think of it this way. If your site is #10 inrepparttar 128097 search engine rankings, but ifrepparttar 128098 sites above yours haven't gone torepparttar 128099 trouble to create appealing titles and descriptions, a search engine user may skip over those sites to visit yours.
