The Ins and Outs of Article SubmissionsWritten by Deborah Carraro
Congratulations! You’ve written your first article (or possibly your 10th or 100th!) As you no doubt already know, writing articles is probably most effective way to establish yourself as an expert in your field and increase traffic to your website. So you diligently write articles and then spend hours posting them to Article Submission websites. “There must be a smarter way?” you think each time you submit your articles. There is! Let’s look at simple techniques to get most out of time you will be investing in article submissions. Organization Saves Time Create a simple spreadsheet to organize each submission. The spreadsheet should contain following: •URLs for all submission websites •User names and passwords for each site •Submission format (text, HTML, hyperlink URLs, etc.) •Submission date Prep Your Article Most submission sites allow HTML coding, so spend time to code your article before you start your submissions. Other sites post warnings that copying and pasting directly from Word will cause article to be improperly formatted. Be sure you have a text version (created in Notepad) available. A few select sites require you to code carriage returns into your article. Again, having a text file with HTML tags ready and waiting makes submission process flow smoothly.
| | Handmade Beauty Business . . . Virtually! Written by Charlon Bobo
The business of Handmade Beauty has grown exponentially in past ten years. I have personally observed and been an integral part of enormous growth and innovation as industry has become more well-known, and even mainstream. As an instructor in arts of cold-process soap-making and toiletry-making, it is amazing to talk with student after student about their newfound knowledge of creating handmade beauty products and their desire to start a business. The range runs gamut from selling a few weeks annually during pre-holiday craft fair season to starting a full-time business with a very sophisticated long-term business plan. I am always amazed at passion this craft elicits and endless possibilities, variations, and directions in which such a business could go! I know. From personal experience, I know it very well. What I like to share in my consultations is that anything is possible. With enough commitment, endurance, a well-thought plan, and enough cash to carry you through until you are generating income sufficient to get by and thrive, it can be done. That said, in my experience, from moment you decide you are serious about being in business, it is imperative to adopt a mindset of maximizing your time and energy. One way of doing that is to hire a professional Virtual Assistant, also known as a “VA.”
