Bracelet popularity dates back to Roman times and continues today. Roman bracelets shared many of design patterns of necklaces and earrings from that era. The ever popular ball earrings from that era were nicely matched with a ball style bracelet. Engraved bangles and snake bracelets were very popular during Roman times. Bracelets made of twisted coil with lion head ends were common place, as were two part bracelets ending with a pair of lion heads. The Heracles knot bracelet is recognized as a Roman era piece. The Roman’s were very creative in designing of their jewelry. However they still borrowed from Greek motifs. Palmettos, fleeing dogs and acanthus leaves, all of Greek origin, were often seen in designing of Roman jewelry.Stones and glass were often used in Roman bracelets. . Gem stones were commonly found set in eyes. Open bands were cut to represent a row of ivy and entwined with pearls. Many of leaf and berry bracelets were heavily adorned with decorative glass. The wealthier women could be seen wearing bracelets layered in bezel set emeralds. During Gerogiian times bracelets remained popular. Paris jewelers were known for their gold bracelets set with pearl edging. After 1820s coral became “in” fashion statement, so bracelets and other jewelry were heavily set with coral. During Gerogiian time it was very fashionable to wear many bracelets at once, including wide ribbon gold mesh bracelets, and silk ribbon bracelets. Gem and Diamond bracelets were designed in geometric patterns. Gold was heavily used during this era. The Victorian era brought changes to fashions of women, including jewelry styles. Earrings grew long and dangled, bracelets became rigid and were normally worn in pairs. The buckle bracelet became very fashionable. The jewelry of Victorian era expressed sentiment, and bracelets were no exception. Bracelets would contain lockets or charms with pictures or hair of a loved one, and engravings were common Early Victorian jewelry enjoyed some mystic with hidden meanings being popular. The acrostic bracelets where first letter of each gemstone spelled a word of friendship were very popular. For example a bracelet set with Lapis, Opal, Vermeil [hessonite garnet] and Emerald would spell Love.

Now don’t get ahead of yourself. Before doing anything you should grab a pen and paper and follow these simple steps.First you need to make a list of things you need to discuss with your fiancée. Don’t go any further until you’ve done this. Although you might be inclined to rush out and start planning. Remember this is his big day too, and he should have a say in planning of it. You’ll need to discuss: • maximum amount your going to spend • How many people your going to invite • How you are going to finance your wedding • What type of wedding your going to have – big, small, formal, informal • How many people will be in your wedding party Once you’ve got some of basics covered you’ll want to meet with both sets of parents to further discuss items above. You need to find out how much, if any, finances parents will be contributing. You’ll need to know who is important to them to place on invite list, and you’ll need to fill them in on type of wedding your planning. Third, you’ll need to set your wedding date. These days it’s advisable to book facilities such as churches and reception halls a year in advance. You’ll want to take into consideration time of year you plan to get married, any holidays, vacations, or family events that might not work with your date. Once you’ve determined a date that works for your bridal party and family members, as well as yourself, you can move ahead. It never hurts to have a couple of date options
