Apples are one of oldest and holiest symbols of life and rebirth among Germanic folk, appearing as grave-gifts from Bronze Age onward. One wonders what significance symbol of apple had here with apple in Garden of Eden. Did serpent offer Eve immortality. Was she punished for being like Gods?
