The Eden project, repparttar 133875 futuristic domed structures protecting alien climates, would not be out of place in any dreamers imagination of what space travellers might live in onrepparttar 133876 Moon or Mars. Housed in what was once a Cornish China Clay mine, repparttar 133877 ambitious Eden creators have builtrepparttar 133878 largest conservatory inrepparttar 133879 world and captioned a new word - biome - a bio-dome. Currentlyrepparttar 133880 site has two biomes, repparttar 133881 largest containing over 1,000 tropical plants. At 240m long, 110m wide and 50m high, repparttar 133882 Humid Tropics Biome isrepparttar 133883 showpiece ofrepparttar 133884 project. But, before more talk ofrepparttar 133885 main attraction, I will go back torepparttar 133886 beginning....

The Eden Project can be found at Bodelva.... inrepparttar 133887 South of Cornwall, repparttar 133888 South West peninsula of England. Approaching by road, via Plymouth - takerepparttar 133889 A38 West to Dobwalls, thenrepparttar 133890 A310. A few miles before St Austell look forrepparttar 133891 signs to Eden Project. Fromrepparttar 133892 A30 takerepparttar 133893 A391 a few miles west of Bodmin and head for St. Austel. Again, look forrepparttar 133894 signs to Eden. Access is easy and well within a day out from any town or resort in Devon or Cornwall and is a triumph of organisation. Cars and coaches are catered for aroundrepparttar 133895 perimiter ofrepparttar 133896 China Clay Pit and transport laid on fromrepparttar 133897 car parks in a steady flow from all points torepparttar 133898 Visitor Centre where tickets are bought. The pit is huge but descending is an adventure offering rides in long tractor driven trains or by foot downrepparttar 133899 zig-zagged paths torepparttar 133900 entrance ofrepparttar 133901 biomes below.

The Outdoor Biome:

Constantly changing withrepparttar 133902 seasons, repparttar 133903 sides and bottom ofrepparttar 133904 pit is a patchwork of plants and decorated with art projects only fully appreciated when on foot.
