TR Cutler to Continue Industrial Connection Case Study Profiles of South Carolina ManufacturersWritten by Thomas Cutler
Ranked as nation’s leading manufacturing journalist and an editor, TR Cutler (www.trcutlerinc.com) tells extraordinary stories of manufacturers. According to Cutler, “There are great companies making great products. There are too many manufacturers and companies serving manufacturing sector that have simply neglected to tell their story. My goal is to tell these stories in an interesting, dynamic, understandable, and relevant way.” • Cutler founded Manufacturing Media Consortium™ in same year. This is a group of more than 2000 journalists worldwide writing about trends, data, case studies, profiles, and features in manufacturing and industrial sector. Cutler worked with hundreds of media outlets to expand coverage and importance of manufacturing media coverage. • Cutler created "Mass Marketing Manufacturing Media Blitz", a comprehensive 90 - 180 day program allowing manufacturers with little web presence or with a new product introduction to go from zero to sixty in a short-term PR campaign. • Cutler has authored more than 1000 articles for a wide range of manufacturing, industrial, and business journals, dailies, and month trade B2B publications. • Cutler authored The Manufacturer's Public Relations and Media Guide in 2000, which quickly became key media resource guide for manufacturers seeking coverage. • Cutler is Associate Editor of Industrial Connection (www.industrialconnection.net) as of 2003. This 15,000 circulation manufacturing trade publication is only journal of record serving manufacturers in Southeastern United States (Georgia, North and South Carolina, and Florida.) | | Defining Small Manufacturers: By Number of PartsWritten by Rocky Smolin
E-Z-MRP, leading manufacturing software system for small manufacturers, announced effective April 15th, there will be a new pricing and product structure. According to Rocky Smolin, founder of Beach Access Software, makers of E-Z-MRP, “We see a distinction between those small manufacturers with less than five hundred parts in material resource planning, and those with a need for unlimited part numbers.”Smolin noted that some manufacturers will start with under 500 parts version of E-Z-MRP, priced at $2995, and grow into new unlimited version, priced at $9800. Beach Access Software credits $2995 for customers who later choose to upgrade. Other small manufacturers who presently have more than five hundred part will start right away with E-Z-MRP Unlimited version. Small manufacturers with more than one hundred parts can no longer manage manufacturing process on an Excel spreadsheet. Since more than 84% of all manufacturers have less than fifty employees, there is a remarkable opportunity for cost-effective manufacturing systems like E-Z-MRP. Despite extensive media coverage regarding ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning), in most cases these small manufacturers do not require all functionality offered, nor can many afford price point.
