THE WATERMELON SEEDWritten by Irvin L. Rozier
Today I planted a watermelon seed Planted it in hope that it would feed Three or four little children dear to me The ground was prepared by apple tree Of grass and weeds soil was bare The tiny seed was planted with care With a prayer to LORD up on high That He would cause seed to grow, by and by Next to watermelon, I planted some sunflowers Then I waited on LORD to send some showers I watched seeds spring forth and grow One day after rain, I spied a rainbow It spread so mightily across sky This beauty was from God who reigns on high
| | Googling for JesusWritten by Howard Young
When I took on task of updating HTLC web site, I first started by "Googling for Jesus." In other words, I used Google internet search engine to find web sites that have information about Jesus to give a clearer picture of what our web site should look like.My research indicated that if you Googled for "Jesus," "Lutheran," "Lutheran Churches," or even "Holy Trinity Lutheran Church," Google could not find our web site. To search engine, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church simply did not exist on internet. Since one of core requirements is to share good news that Jesus is our Lord and Savior — in addition to providing general church information — it is quite impossible to broadcast good news without a basic listing in a well-known search engine like Google. Although web site has been operational for many years, search engines did not categorized our site as a Lutheran Church or anything remotely related to Jesus. The original web site version had a beautiful photograph of Altar in Sanctuary with stained-glass windows in background. This picture was easily worth one thousand words, but a search engine, which only understands textual content, could not interpret beauty and message in picture.
