Stress Management - Worry lessening methods to approach stress.

how to cope with severe stress.

We are all different. We all have different levels of tolerance, different levels of ability, different abilities.

We all have different aspirations, different likes and different dislikes.

No one can legislate for us all en masse.

However,

What we all have in common at various points in our lives is stress.

Attendant to stress can come depression, tension, sleeplessness, lethargy, apathy, suicidal thinking, anger, despair, physical illness and death.

All these also have one thing in common, negative waves as oddball would say.

We will invariably all face one of these below between us at some point in our lives, unless we are in some cases extremely fortunate.

1. Bereavement 2. job redundancy 3. job change 4. new baby 5. overwork 6. money worries 7. personal arguments 8. physical injury 9. serious illness 10. lifestyle change 11. drugs drink addiction

Most of these constitute what most people would regard as genuine obstacles they have had to face or endure which are harder to cope with than you would like.

Why.

This might seem an odd question, but it is very pertinent. For merepparttar why in every case above breaks down to

this is something I have never experienced before, coupled with high emotional involvement.

Many psychologists will be wringing their hands at my next statement, but I believe that just as we all have a God given talent, that we can ALL cope.

I am not religious, this is justrepparttar 101313 way I feel.

We CAN all cope.

With something we have never experienced before, there is an innate set of worries.

a. will I be able to cope with this b. will I make a fool of myself c. how can I possibly do this on my own d. what is really happening here e. will I do this inrepparttar 101314 right way f. I hope I dont make too much fuss g. will I survive this unscathed h. How will I ever get through this.

A step intorepparttar 101315 unknown, never before experienced. With experience comesrepparttar 101316 confidence you have done it before, and even if it was unsuccessful, you know how better to approach it this time, know what is coming, and to a small degree, know how to best deal with it.

Some things, like bereavement, are never going to be easy.

So what can we do to minimiserepparttar 101317 impact of these new and frightening or slightly worrying or plain terrifying events.

We have to know we will eventually cope with anything.

We CAN all cope.

What do we need in our armoury to try to cope then.

1. Confidence 2. Knowledge 3. Back up  4. Friends 5. Self reliance 6. Determination 7. Know our own limitations 8. Be calm under pressure 9. Make logical reasoned decisions 10. Realise only we can do it

The prime, underlying thing you will most need will berepparttar 101318 most difficult to try to do, sleep.

To have any chance of coping well under undue stress, you have to have eight hours unbroken sleep. Period.

This is singularlyrepparttar 101319 hardest thing to do, to let go when you are underrepparttar 101320 highest stress, but you must do to cope, preferably without sleeping pills.

To truly sleep under grim stress you have to be aware that there is only so much you can do in one day, and also some days you cannot alter or affect what isrepparttar 101321 problem. Also some days you will get absolutely nowhere.

Identify your problem, or problems, as they have a habit of multiplying at bad times.

Break your problem down intorepparttar 101322 smallest parts you can think of and make two lists.

One list shows what you can directly do something about now. The other shows things beyond your control, at least for now.

You can only deal with what is directly possible, so make an achievable schedule of what to do each day.

And do it.

Then sleep. You have done all you can that day, and you have a plan to work to, and you must not worry over things beyond your control. That is a hard one but very true, you probably worry most over what you can do least about.

Have a hot bath, and if not alcoholic a sherry or a port, then sleep solidly for eight hours.

If you cant do anything about something, dont, let it go.

Once you have your plan your armoury comes into play.

Confidence is built by truly knowing you are capable.

Knowledge of something new builds confidence, so read up on others experiences, and ask others who have been through this before.

Back up your own abilities with specialist advice where it involves specialist knowledge, preferably a few erudite opinions, not just one.

Friends, true friends will sharerepparttar 101323 load. So if you know now you are not worthy of friends, for example, if you lie a lot, stop lying. True friends come out of being a true friend and are worth gold at these times in support. So now is a good time to look at yourself and see if you cant be better to those around you, you never know when you might need their help.

Self reliance comes from knowing you have overcome things before, allied to knowing you have to do it again now. Never worry about looking stupid, or failing, or being out on a limb on your own or making an undue fuss. We have all been there, we can ALL get by.

Determination cannot be overstated, if you are truly determined anything is possible, but it is easier to be determined when you can actually see and visualise what you are up against. This is a voyage into somewhat unknown territory, but we are all capable of coping. It is oftenrepparttar 101324 fear of failure that leads to failure, notrepparttar 101325 lack of moral fibre or intelligence or resilience. Itsrepparttar 101326 What If It All Goes Pear Shaped that makes it into a pear. You must be single mindedly determined to succeed, which will waver at times, we all have some healthy self doubt, but overall we must be strong, and we ARE capable of it, ALL of us. You are only ever weak if you want people to feel sorry for you. We can all be strong, we can all survive intact.

Future Technology Quality may reflect past glories.

The Dark Side ofrepparttar Moon, The Universe and everything.

Last time we saw hardware turning somewhat towards mobile phones, with PCs still firmly entrenched. Today we will look atrepparttar 101312 future of non hardware based things to come. Increasingly, things are bought ready programmed and we have little influence over what we have bought or use, just initial choice of supplier and package. So we are being gently pushed down pre-defined paths, with conforming to compatibility being paramount, especially asrepparttar 101313 current market is essentially split between Google and Microsoft. Here Google will try to offer all options to all men purely by being online to them, as opposed to Microsoft’s tendency to tierepparttar 101314 user to their PC for Word Processing/Office/Email applications and get their frills onrepparttar 101315 net. Much as most would privately relish a Google triumph, this is Microsoft after all, who have seen off a good number of contenders forrepparttar 101316 crown, and also generally speaking we are all more comfortable withrepparttar 101317 net forrepparttar 101318 net andrepparttar 101319 PC forrepparttar 101320 rest; it is what we have grown up with, plus possibly there is an underlying fear thatrepparttar 101321 net does not reek of “permanence” as it was historically not so long back “down” as much as it was up, and is somewhat dependant on transient factors, not least electricity in an ageing, creaking grid network, surviving in an epoch of sophisticated terrorism. (Personally I think our increasing reliance on all things electrically based, with no alternative parallel backup manual systems is a t least worrying and at worst frightening.) Anyway, I think Microsoft will berepparttar 101322 major monopoly for many a day yet, with a new search evolving with Longhorn and as in any eventrepparttar 101323 “devil that we know”.

On another tack, I recently visited Ireland, where my mobile phone supplier does not function! News to me, and news relayed via texts from other suppliers who do work there almost as soon as I stepped offrepparttar 101324 ferry. “ Welcome to Ireland we are now looking after you” kind of thing. One even hadrepparttar 101325 temerity to phone me and ask if I wanted to upgrade to their network as mine did not work there. A little startling to think you are targeted so quickly, automatically. So project this further if you will, as ID cards, andrepparttar 101326 like containing DNA, Iris details and fingerprints, plus bank balances and credit card balances become prevalent as money ceases to be in tandem. You walk downrepparttar 101327 street, and a CCTV recognises you via facial and retinal scan correlation and activates a speaker/plasma display which says “hi Malcolm, are you interested in ………. Today?” It will know your available credit, your credit rating , preferences, your season ofrepparttar 101328 year typical buys. It will have countless data via surveys you filled in to get freebies. It will in short target you with your weaknesses knowingrepparttar 101329 money is there. Similarly actually pick up any displayed article and DNA or fingerprint technology will trigger a similar chain of events and questions merely by having touched them. All this is delivered to your door with minimal fuss, andrepparttar 101330 item may even tell you when it needs replacing, and on command replace itself viarepparttar 101331 home online system hooked intorepparttar 101332 intelligent fridge, washing machine, cooker, and freezers and conversing 24/7 withrepparttar 101333 net and relevant suppliers and re suppliers. Your home system constantly monitors stock and varies purchases according o season and personal preferences learned ad hoc from its inception, much as your blue DVD system learned your viewing preferences and your commercial TV channels learned to tune their adverts specifically to be in sync with your personal psyche, style and tastes. All choice is made to be as minimal as possible, all whim taken away everything is so SIMPLE. There will be no problem getting what you want, when you want it, almost instantaneously, and your every internet search will be analysed and filed for finer tuning into your underlying psychological profile. given this weight of mundane tasks being effortlessly achieved in a sort of background low profile mode, and given most will effectively be “working from home” there may well be a tendency to introversion, an almost hermit-like existance, where communication is by and large electronic and not in person, more “in camera”. We seerepparttar 101334 start of this inrepparttar 101335 endemic mobile phone use by our youth who are losing their grasp of spelling and personal contact via texting, and an almost addictive usage of phones where once we talked face to face. This incidentally stimulates rudeness and abuse and easily causes offence where none is intended, asrepparttar 101336 electrons flow andrepparttar 101337 actual physical face to face meetings with all their emotive vision hearing touch and smell are slowly but surely eroded and recede, and with it human contact is so muchrepparttar 101338 poorer. As I say this all assumes an uninterrupted power source which can Answer increasingly heavier and heavier demand with absolutely no blips. Is this achievable, is this stable, is this possible? Much as our supermarkets now are eviscerating smaller shops and garages, so they will become sole silent suppliers to your door viarepparttar 101339 global net,( or not so silent suppliers should you venture past your front portal) . Holidays may even become a matter of “plugging in” to distant locations via a sensual virtual link, sort of web cam with touch and emotion, then……no more travelling, packing, flying, ferrying, just dreaming awake with subliminal time outs for ordering. We are leaving an age of choice and reason and opinions to go to an era of facile effortless indulgence and contentment atrepparttar 101340 expense of our free will being subjugated to appeasingrepparttar 101341 convenient, repparttar 101342 line of minimal effort. Every day that passes it is easier to spend and receive, easier to indulge and then discard. It is also becoming increasingly hard to manage and function without a mobile, a laptop, a PC and a Net; and more expensive to buckrepparttar 101343 system and “do it manually”. Soon there will be no money, no bartering, no MANUALLY. Soon it will all be credit and online and AUTOMATICALLY . Who is to say which is preferable, but there is little doubt which way it will go. Ask your computers, they will tell you if you don’t believe me; soon we will be more comfortable talking to our computer than to each other. Apparently even now users in Internet cafes and Universities userepparttar 101344 SAME computer in a room of many, giving choice, because they TRUST that one, they are happy it worked for them before; plus your computer never lies to you or annoys you or answers you back, it just does what you say, for now.

So I envisage a shift towards a “2001 HAL” society where your every perceived need and want is second guessed, offered, accepted and delivered. No actual feeling of paying or ordering or thinking is likely, simply a constantly replenished supply of perishables with a finite life span. Not “pay today and throw away” but “Don’t think why just re supply” and to this end all software, peripherals, andrepparttar 101345 Net will be geared up to be more and more effortless to you and less and less manual intervention from you, inrepparttar 101346 race to automaterepparttar 101347 mundane and strip awayrepparttar 101348 stress and even choice in supplying what are perceived and judged to be your needs, albeit by others.
