Stop Smoking - Women Who Want to Quit SmokingWritten by Steven A. Harold
Ordinarily you would think that quitting smoking is same for both sexes. Whether you are a man or woman there can be a variety of common reasons for starting smoking in first place and another range of common reasons for quitting smoking across sexes. Whilst on surface this may appear true, there are important differences to understand which can definately aid quitting smoking for women.According to research women start smoking and quit smoking for different reasons to men. For instance weight control is seen as a perceived benefit of smoking. Although smoking can help with weight control it does not help as much as it is perceived to help. As a clinical hypnotherapist I invariably ask my female clients who want to stop smoking this question "What would you rather deal with, a few extra pounds of weight or cancer?". Often response will be that they fear extra weight. Of course this can be because weight gain can seem more immediate and possible, whereas cancer seems more distant and less likely to happen. Another reason why women may smoke is because of their closer emotional bonding to other women. Women are natural empathisers and in empathising with a close friend, if that friend is a smoker, by also smoking themselves they may perceive or feel that they understand their friend's issue. To a lesser degree this response is true during a work break when a number of female colleague's will smoke together and is another way of keeping strong bonds intact. Stopping smoking, when female friends are continuing to smoke, can make new quitter feel isolated and distant from formerly close friends and colleagues. Yet a third influence on women quitting smoking is their cycle. For those women who suffer irritability or worse during their cycle, it would not be a good idea to add to this by quitting smoking at same time. In order to make your chances of success in quitting smoking increase following these tips to deal with above issues can help tremendously :-
| | Arthritis Pain Relief 101Written by Charlene J. Nuble
Coming of age equals coming of a variety of body pains. And do you know what most of our oldies would complain about regarding this issue? Arthritis. An estimate of over 50 million Americans suffer from osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and other conditions related conditions. The most common form of arthritis is osteoarthritis. It is kind of arthritis that usually affects nearly three-quarters of those over 50. At onset of arthritis, pain is not a part of major system yet. Morning and after rest stiffness and crackling joints are usually first few symptoms that confirm diagnosis of condition. Upon development of disease, patients are expected to suffer from more discomfort, disability and pain. If left untreated, it can become progressively distressing and painful crippling can result. This is particularly true with rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis usually affects women. It is prevalent with age group of 20 to 45. Arthritis is not only caused by wear and tear joints undergo. There are other factors that aggravate this condition. Rheumatoid arthritis is considered an immune deficiency syndrome where antibodies develop against components of joint tissue, and mistakenly and aggressively attack joints. Misdirected neovascularization leads to displacement of water while decreasing volume and viscosity of synovial fluid (fluid between joints), further lessening flexibility and cushioning power of joint, until surfaces of raw unprotected bone painfully begin to wear against each other, as it happens in conditions of Osteoarthritis. Inborn recessive genetic errors may also predict inclination of a person to develop arthritis. Dealing with chronic pain of arthritis can be frustrating. Pain from arthritis is often caused by inflammation, a localized protective reaction of tissues to irritation or any kind of injury and is often characterized by pain, redness, swelling and even disability. Crepitation is a process that can also cause pain that is felt by an arthritis patient. It is rubbing together of two bone fragments that cause a crackling sound. Muscle tension and fatigue can also cause pain.
