Smarty Jones that's my name!Written by Greg Ryan
Our deepest fear us not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us…..We are born to manifest glory of God that is within us….And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do same. Today more than ever we live in times of public murder via internet and awareness of dirty little secrets of wartime interrogation. Yet, this weekend we as a country got a breathe of fresh air by watching a little horse letting go of his inadequacy’s and race around a dirt track looking for his one shot at Glory. If a nation is so hungry for winners by getting behind a horse named Smarty Jones, then who are we not to embrace Glory of God and share it with others?
Not long ago I read a quote in book, “Jesus - Life Coach” that read, “Are you living your life like you only have six healthy months to live? I answered NO! and then I asked myself, why? I didn’t have an answer. Did I fear inadequacy? Or did I fear, what if God blessed me beyond measure? Could I handle being in spot light? Could I live up to world’s expectations of me or my expectations of myself? I really don’t think it’s our place to decide what we can handle and not, it’s God’s. Yet, it is our desire to live by Faith. The bible says, “with God who can be against us.” Our feelings of inadequacy is just another way of Satan trying to trick us into thinking we are not worthy of God’s glory or even living a life full of happiness and love down here on earth.

I began day at six in morning asking God, “What do you have for my heart today Lord.” I had a few minutes to spare this morning (very unusual) so I had a cup of coffee at Starbucks. During that time a brain storm came to me and I wrote feverously for thirty minutes, jumped in car and decided to take a tour of new Wal-Mart food store in St. Matthews as I headed back to work. When I arrived at store it was not raining, as I began to leave it was pouring. I didn’t buy anything so I went out entrance way. At same time I realized it was raining an elderly woman coming into store asked me to help with fix her umbrella, it was stuck open. I’m thinking, not now lady my top’s down in my car and there are fish swimming in it, but calmly with a smile I help her. Then she wants me to fold it for her, you’ve got to be kidding me. She proceeds to thank me (as I swiftly move away) and she says, “by way there is a convertible in parking lot with top down.
As I ran out I yell that’s mine thank you Now, how many seventy
