Say Goodbye to Traditional Telephone LinesWritten by Michelle Lehoux
Like old, dusty books on shelves of public libraries, regular home telephone lines have been plummeting in popularity. Some experts even foresee that traditional LAN telephone lines will eventually reach extinction- but before you start to chuckle at this forecast, it may be less farfetched than you actually think. “Many people don’t leave home without their cell phones nowadays,” says Larry Lehoux, CEO of Data Corp., a world leader in development of digital communications software. “Cell phones have really revolutionized way we live; people no longer need to sit and wait around for important phone calls. Cell phones have given us freedom.” It’s true. Most of us carry our cell phones around everywhere; grocery store, mall, in our cars and even at gym. Cell phone use has been steadily increasing around world and people are not just using their cell phones to talk, there are now a variety of other activities that are keeping their interest. “Mobile phone technology is becoming so sophisticated that people use their handsets for tasks other than just talking. These new activities include text messaging, download ringtones and wallpaper, playing games and even surfing Internet” says expert Lehoux.
| | How to read Zener Diode CodeWritten by Jestine Yong
Many technicians are confused on how to really read a zener diode code. There are many types of code number indicated on it's body. The look and shape of a zener diode sometimes can be mistaken to be a normal signal diode. To differentiate it, is by looking at code number on it's body- whether it is a normal diode or zener diode. Thanks to manufacturers where their main boards are printed with word 'ZD' which referred to zener diode and 'D' means a diode. However, from my experienced some printed circuit board marking of 'D' also can represent zener diode. This will misled a technician into believing a zener diode is actually a diode. We as a technician or engineer must know or be sensitive about marking. The only way to find out is by referring code number printed on component's body from a semiconductor data book. Without data book it is quite difficult to know actual zener diode voltage. If you do not have data book you may go to google search engine and type following code and hope you can find answer there! A wrong substitution of zener diode may caused your equipment to malfunction and sometimes will even blow your equipment. Time and money are loss due to that we lack of knowledge of identify right zener diode voltage. If you are unable to identify code, do not worry as this newsletter are here to guide you to successfully on how to read zener diode code.5.1=5.1Volt zener diode 5V1=5.1Volt zener diode
