Une longue bâtisse peinte en bleue me fit oublier la pluie qui s'était mise à tomber. Sur une arche de pierre se reposait une sculpture de bois blond indiquant que nous étions arrivés au " Refuge ". L'auberge est à ses premiers balbutiements (automne 2004) et le propriétaire m'accueillit un marteau à la main, sans doute une façon de me prouver que lui aussi mettait la main à la pâte. L'immense porte-fenêtre de la salle de repos me mit en présence d'un tableau à ce point irréel qu'un instant je crus m'être endormie dans un des fauteuils verts près des plantes tropicales. Tel un gnome, le concepteur de ce chef-d'œuvre s'activait autour de son troglodyte car ici, passé la porte des farfadets, la vie continue sous terre. Sautant d'une pierre à l'autre, il vint à ma rencontre. Je restai bouche bée devant cet artiste qui avait créé l'imaginaire. Les mots pour décrire son œuvre, enrobés de sa folie, m'entraînèrent dans un labyrinthe de détails fascinants : Les coupes de bois selon leur fonction, la provenance des sculptures, le banc caché derrière la chute, le bain à remous, la terrasse où le feu pétille, les marches bordées de cailloux choisis pour leurs couleurs et leurs formes, qui entraînent le curieux jusqu'à la Rivière à Simon… Décor naturel qui permet à la pensée de vagabonder…
