The total direct NASSC population of players, families, and other fans exceeded 24,000, not including approximate 50,000 daily summer weekend spectators on famed Virginia Beach boardwalk. 50 fields were stretched over 18 city blocks to accommodate 5v5 fast-paced games. International teams, youth teams, men’s and women’s squads, college teams, corporate teams and military organizations participated in sand soccer tournament. Walking in the Auvergne Volcano National ParkWritten by Seb Jay
Situated on northwestern edge of Massif Central in Southeast France is hauntingly beautiful landscape of Parc des Volcans (Auvergne Volcano National Park). It covers an area of approximately 395,000 hectares and takes in three extinct volcanic mountain chains that are spread over two French departments. The park stretches for more than 120kms along a north-south axis, and has long been a favourite with hikers from around world, thousands of whom visit area every year.
At Park's northern extent is Chaine des Puys (Monts Domes) - a chain of volcanic creations that takes in magnificent crater of Puy de Dome. The Chaine des Puys is youngest volcanic chain in Parc de Volcans, its mountains last spewing lava across landscape some 6000 years ago. The Puy de Dome volcano represents highest peak here and is easily accessible by foot or by car.
In central part of Parc des Volcans is Monts Dore volcanic area. It contains Puy de Sancy, which at 1886m above sea level is highest peak in park. The region has many distinct craters and crater lakes, making for some of most spectacular scenery in Massif Central.
