REKINDLING THE ROMANTIC FLAMESWritten by Tami McRaney
As Cupid's arrows fly through air, it's time of year when our thoughts lean toward romance. For those that have been with their significant other for what seems like forever, here are a few ideas to rekindle flame. *Go to your local florist for leftover rose petals. Sometimes you can get them for free. Otherwise its usually $2-3 for a bag. Rose petals have many uses. Use these as a trail through house leading to a candlelit dinner or a romantic rendezvous. Cover bed in rose petals or shape them into a heart on his/her pillow. Place petals and floating candles in a warm tub for your sweetie. Use them as fragrance in a homemade valentine. Use as potpourri and place them in a gift bag with special boxers or lingerie. *Plan a romantic scavenger hunt. Write up clues ahead of time. Leave small gifts or poems at each site that leads to next. Example: "This is where we shared our first kiss," or "Please arrive at 123 Main Street at 7:15 p.m. for your next clue." Leave a new shirt or a pretty sweater requesting it be worn at dinner that night. With planning, clues can be planted at a restaurant, local florist, a friend's home (or your own), or a local hotel where you've left a note at front desk. The options are endless! *Send romantic e-mails to your sweetie all day long. Let them know of your plans for evening (slowly but surely.) Example: E-mail #1: " I'm looking forward to spending quality time with you tonight." E-mail #2: "On your way to lunch, please stop by A Touch of Class Florist. There's a message waiting." E-mail #3 " I've planned a romantic evening, please dress accordingly for dinner at 7:00 p.m." E-mail #4 "Please go to 123 Main Street. I'll be waiting at 7:00 p.m." Use YOUR imagination!
| | 5 Budget Ways to Warm Your Decor Through WinterWritten by Kathleen Wilson
Now that holidays are over, and decorations are put away, you may be wondering what now? Remember that Spring is still several months away, and you’re best bet for keeping your rooms inviting during dead of winter is to add warmth and comfort. And if you are like me and don’t have a lot of extra cash laying around after holiday crunch, use these ideas to make major changes in your rooms, for minor cash.1.Rearrange. Create more intimate furniture arrangements, or just try something new! Move seating to create areas where people can easily talk, or group them around fireplace or other focal point. 2.Use candles! Candles are relatively inexpensive, and should not be saved just for special occasions! Group them together, combine them with plants, or set them in front of a mirror. If you feel using them too often will cramp your budget, set aside one meal a week where you ceremoniously use them, such as Sunday dinner. 3.Place throw blankets casually over chairs and sofas for your loved ones to cuddle up in. A great way to buy these inexpensively is to check your fabric store for clearance sales on polar fleece. Buy 1 to 1 ½ yards for each throw, then use scissors to cut fringe on two ends. This fabric doesn’t fray, comes in a wide array of patterns and solids, and does not need to be hemmed or sewn! I bought enough for several and paid less than five dollars for each throw! Oh, and did I mention it is extremely soft and warm?
