QUEENIE AND THE PETUNIASWritten by Irvin L. Rozier
This is story number 33 (out of 50) from my book, My Walk with Lord, published Nov 03. Matthew 5.4 "Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted." A few weeks after Mama died (Jan 01), a beautiful golden retriever showed up at my house. She had obviously belonged to someone but my brother-in-law, Joe, who lives nearby, and I had no inkling to whom she belonged. Obvious, too, was her impending motherhood. This dog was kindest and sweetest natured dog that I have ever seen. Her personality reminded me of Mama. I named her Queenie because she looked like royalty. She was a neighborhood dog. Queenie would make rounds every day to visit with neighbors and get her treats. Mrs. Kelly, who I wrote about earlier, especially liked Queenie. Soon she had eight beautiful puppies. After they were weaned, we had no trouble finding homes for these lovely pups, half lab and half golden retriever. My nephew kept one and named him Cocoa. On May 20, 03, I had taken Cocoa and Queenie on their morning run. I would drive golfcart and they would have a ball running, chasing squirrels and birds. That morning, Queenie even chased up a wild turkey. We came back, and I was talking to my sister, Joanne, when we saw a truck come by and heard a loud thump. Normally, Queenie didn't chase vehicles, but she ran right in front of that truck and was killed. I buried her and placed a little white cross over grave and wrote on it, "Queenie, May 20, 03; Sent from God."
| | THE MISSING BIBLEWritten by Irvin L. Rozier
This is a short version of story number 30 (out of 50) from my recently published book, My Walk with Lord, www.selahbooks.com , barnes and noble, amazon.Ephesians 6.17 "And take helmet of salvation, and sword of spirit, which is word of God." On April 26, 2003, I went to a patriotic event at Memorial Stadium in Waycross, Georgia. There were many veterans present and several active duty personnel..Even Governor Perdue attended. Prayers for our nation were prayed, patriotic and gospel music was played, and speeches were made. I was proud to wear my old Army cap, and proud to be an American. Applause sounded as various veterans were honored---from World War II through Iraqi war. As I thought of my Army service, my mind went back to day I raised my right hand and pledged to support and defend our nation. The Gideons had given us soldiers a New Testament on that day. That little book had followed me around world but I had lost it. I loaned it out to a friend who had moved to South Carolina. A few days later, this friend called me and I asked him had he seen my Army New Testament. He said no, his ex-wife probably had it. Two days later, he said Holy Spirit told him to look in his box of rifle ammunition..On very top of box was my little Bible and a copy of Lord's prayer. The most powerful ammunition of all was on top!
