Problems or Opportunities?

Written by Clyde Dennis

As best I can tell here’s how it breaks down.

Some people see problems as opportunities. Understanding that getting through each opportunity puts them closer torepparttar next one. Kind of going through life with a stair step mentality. Excited to get torepparttar 103118 next round of new opportunities because they are seen as ‘steps’ along a pathway. They feel likerepparttar 103119 biggerrepparttar 103120 opportunity (problem)repparttar 103121 better because that means a bigger step taken. With this outlook they welcome big challenges. They push ahead boldly, as though it were a sporting event in whichrepparttar 103122 opportunities wererepparttar 103123 opponent. The opportunity beingrepparttar 103124 thing that must be overcome or conquered in order to move up to higher levels of competition. Thereby bringing higher levels of enjoyment. Enjoyingrepparttar 103125 whole processrepparttar 103126 way one might enjoy a weekend hobby orrepparttar 103127 companionship of a loved one. These arerepparttar 103128 kinds of people who charge out of bed inrepparttar 103129 mornings because they seerepparttar 103130 upcoming day as another opportunity to be great.

Conversely there are those who don’t ever want there to be any problems (opportunities). Believing that problems are to be avoided at all costs. Inrepparttar 103131 minds of these people problems are all bad. They seerepparttar 103132 very occurrence of opportunity as a problem. They get caught up believing that it’srepparttar 103133 end of something rather than focusing onrepparttar 103134 new beginning that lies before them oncerepparttar 103135 challenge is met. These arerepparttar 103136 people who never confront either themselves or others. They just accept. "Whatever works for you." "If that’s what you want."

These people don’t realize it but they are victims. Accepting what comes instead of actively going to where they want to be. Sometimes they see themselves as peacekeepers. Which is not a bad thing to be but peacemaking would be an even higher aspiration.

Peacemakers lean into conflict. Knowingrepparttar 103137 only true way to keep peace is by resolving issues through confronting them rather than not. Martin Luther King Jr. was a peacemaker. A peacemaker would rather go through instead of dancing around things. Jesus Christ was a peacemaker. They understand going through is conquering while dancing around is avoiding. Mohandas Gandhi was a peacemaker. Avoiding is putting things off until they are so big and painful that they become, well, unavoidable. I challenge you, as I have challenged myself to stop avoiding things and deal with them. If things in your life aren’trepparttar 103138 way you need them to be in order to feel what you need to feel check yourself. Are you resolving or avoiding?

Dish Network - Business Strategy Principles for your Home Business

Written by Nick Smith

Dish Network boasts an impressive clientele of more than nine million monthly subscribers. Significantly, though they are onlyrepparttar second largest distributor of satellite television service, they have been voted #1 in customer service by J.D. Power and Associates. While every business has, by necessity, a different business plan, a careful look at some ofrepparttar 103117 things Dish Network has done to be successful will yield a few principles that will help your small business to succeed.

Echo-Star owns Dish Network, and they are currently in negotiation with one of their channel providers becauserepparttar 103118 provider is demanding a higher per-package, per-user fee each month. The demand, though an increase of only a few pennies per user, represents millions of dollars inrepparttar 103119 short and long term for Dish. I presentrepparttar 103120 conflict here to demonstrate Dish's commitment to minimizing costs. Rather than just rolling over and acceptingrepparttar 103121 fee increase, Dish Network is demonstrating to their customers their commitment to providing their services atrepparttar 103122 lowest cost possible. For any business to be successful, and I assume that isrepparttar 103123 goal for your home business, it must bring in more revenue than it shells out. Being diligent in fighting to minimize your own costs will go a long way towards that end.

Perhapsrepparttar 103124 reason you started your own business was because you cravedrepparttar 103125 autonomy that came inherently with "being your own boss." Perhaps it did not take long to realize that absolute freedom is hard to come by. Unless you producerepparttar 103126 raw materials, refine them, create a marketable good, and sell it completely on your own, your business decisions are limited somewhat by others. Dish Network's taking issue withrepparttar 103127 fee increase represents their dedication to retaining some of that autonomy we all desire for our businesses. Even if you can't setrepparttar 103128 prices, you certainly can negotiate them. Unless you are absolutely sure you are gettingrepparttar 103129 best deal possible onrepparttar 103130 materials you purchase, make a phone
