One of the many misconceptions about petite sizes is that you have to be some tiny little thing to qualify. It is almost a conspiracy if you think about it, just ask anyone in department stores and you will find they aren't purvey as to what clothing petite size actually represents or means. So, if young lady at clothing store doesn't know then who does? In truth designation petite size refers to height, not girth: so, with that said, women under 5' 4" are considered petite, no matter if there size is 24 or 4. This obviously raises many questions when women are out searching for petite clothing. For instance, although many shorter women's main concern is about how womens petite size clothing is going to fit. Such things like pants that aren't going to drag on floor and shirts which sleeves are right length. Also, when trying to make right selection from womens petite sizes there are issues of color and proportion that make this a daunting task. Here are some words of wisdom: Don't get frustrated or discouraged if clothing stores don't offer right style and flare of clothing petite size. This frustration will only lead you to end of road fast. Here is some encouragement though: clothing stores, both online and offline are quickly recognizing gap and are working diligently to close it for all you petite size women. I know, you are saying it is about time!

Celebrities such as Queen Latifah and George Foreman are responding to an overwhelming need for clothing stores, specifically with plus-size clothing lines. And Old Navy has recogized need and have launched a plus-size clothing line in July. At least 800 Web sites now offer plus-size items, ranging from casual wear and dress wear to swimwear and lingerie up to size 4X. Today's plus-size women want to be just as fashionable as anyone else, with same selection of womens clothes. And so, as of this writing, plus size clothing options are improving. Although clothing stores throughout country are starting to recognized this unfulfilled niche, full potential of this market has yet to reach a peak.
