PHP Scripts Don't Have to End in .PHP By Robert Plank

If you tweak your site to perform better in search rankings then you practicerepparttar science of Search Engine Optimization (SEO). It's possible to start using PHP scripts on your site without losing that high ranking of yours.

You've probably noticed your site rise and fall in search engine rankings quite a bit. That's just how it goes since search engines such as Google like to change their algorithms around.

If one day you decide to rename allrepparttar 107168 files on your site you can be sure your Google listing will moved off page 1 of your target search keyword onto repparttar 107169 back-listings of page 67 and beyond.

When you rename a file on your site, and another site links to that file, anyone coming to your site thru that particular link will get an error. When a search engine crawler sees this, it decides your site and decides either to lower your ranking or deleterepparttar 107170 URL from its search results entirely.

Search engines don't want to send their visitors to Not-Found pages... makes sense, doesn't it?

Okay, so let's say you don't want to have a ton of broken links across your site, which will cause you to drop inrepparttar 107171 search results, but you want to tinker with PHP a little bit.

There's an easy fix for that. You can actually name your PHP scripts so that they end in .htm or .html, and have them run as PHP scripts on your web server. So fromrepparttar 107172 outside world it'll look as if your site is full of "updated-by-hand" content.

All you have to do is add this line to your .htaccess file:

AddType application/x-httpd-php .html .htm

If you don't have an .htaccess file, all you have to do is put that line of code up there into a new text file, save it as ".htaccess" (withrepparttar 107173 dot in front) then upload it to your web server.

Adware - Is It Safe?

Written by Dennis Welch, Computer-Help-Guide.com

What is Adware?

Adware is a software program that you install on your computer that displays advertisements whilerepparttar program is running, either as a banner withinrepparttar 107167 program or as a popup. This can be a good thing. It helps keeprepparttar 107168 program free or low-cost forrepparttar 107169 end user.

Ifrepparttar 107170 program displays random advertisements without gathering information about your online activities, then it's considered safe or ethical. You'll seerepparttar 107171 same advertisements that every user ofrepparttar 107172 program is seeing. Andrepparttar 107173 program isn't gathering information about your surfing.

Why Should You Have to Put up With Ads?

I don't have a problem with advertisements onrepparttar 107174 Internet or even ads within free or low cost programs. This, in my opinion, is no different than an ad on television or in a newspaper. It's what keeps these things low cost and keeps businesses in business.

Advertising has a purpose. It tells us about a company's product. I can think of a lot of great products I've bought that I would've never even known about if it wasn't for advertising.

I do have issues with some tactics that are used. For instance, adware programs that bury deep within their EULA statement (End User License Agreement)repparttar 107175 fact that they collect information about what you're doing while you're online.

Most computer users don't readrepparttar 107176 EULA, especially if it's long and full of legalese. We should read them, butrepparttar 107177 fact is, we usually don't. Or we quickly scan them until our eyes glaze over.

The advertisers may have what they consider valid reasons for gathering information about your surfing activities. Usually it's stated that they want to display ads in whichrepparttar 107178 user would most likely have an interest.

From an advertisers point of view, that's probably a pretty good idea. But that should be your decision whether you want them to profile you or not.

When They Cross The Line.

There are also adware programs (or more specifically, repparttar 107179 code written into them) that gather more than just information about your surfing habits. They can send your IP address, computer name, and information from web forms you've submitted to their servers and this crossesrepparttar 107180 line to actual spyware.
