Taking charge of your weight is one of best ways to stay healthy and live a longer, more productive life. Staying motivated is a big part of weight loss success, because all diets work--if you stick to them. Most successful dieters tell health care providers that they lost weight and kept it off by doing their own thing. In other words, they devised a personal plan they could literally live with. According to National Institutes of Health, in 1999, almost 108 million Americans were overweight or obese. These conditions substantially increase risk of morbidity from hypertension, type 2 diabetes, coronary heart disease, stroke, gallbladder problems, sleep apnea, respiratory problems, and breast, colon and prostate cancers. The terms overweight and obesity are used by health experts to indicate increased body weight in relation to height, when compared to some standard of acceptable or desirable weight. Health care providers use body mass index (BMI) and waist circumference measurements to provide useful estimates of overweight, obesity, and body fat distribution. Body mass index (BMI) is most common measure of expressing relationship (ratio) or weight to height. A BMI or 18.5 to 24.9 is considered healthy. A person with BMI of 25 to 29.9 is considered overweight, and a person with a BMI of 30 or more is considered obese.

WHAT IS THE FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH? The fountain of youth is an alkaline body. An alkaline body is a body free from lifestyle diseases, and chemically balanced. The opposite of an alkaline body is an acidic body. An acidic body is said to have medical condition called “Acidosis” Acidosis is a condition in which body chemistry becomes imbalanced and overly acidic. Symptoms with Acidosis include: frequent sighing, insomnia, water retention, recessed eyes, rheumatoid arthritis, migraine head aches, abnormally low blood pressure, dry hard stools, foul smelling stools accompanied by a burning sensation in anus, alternating constipation and diarrhea, difficulty swallowing, burning in mouth or under tongue, sensitivity of teeth to vinegar and acidic fruits, bumps on tongue or roof of mouth. Some causes of Acidosis are; kidney, liver and adrenal disorders, improper diet, malnutrition, obesity, ketosis, anger, stress, fear, anorexia, toxemia, fever, excessive amounts of aspirin and prescription drugs. They probably do because aging is defined as an accumulation of acidic wastesin our body. A simple test can be done to determine if you body is too acidic, too alkaline, or just right. Test your body often, this way you can monitor any changes and adjust your body accordingly. This test is called your PH Test; Purchase PH Paper, (from your health food store, PH color graph will come with paper), apply saliva /or urine to a piece of paper .The paper will change color to indicate if your system is acidic or alkaline. Perform test before eating or at least on hour after eating. The scale called PH is; 1.01 to 6.9 is considered an acidic body 7.0 is neutral 7.1 to14.0 is alkaline 7.2 to 8.0 is ideal alkaline level Continue to test your PH level for rest of your life, this is a good barometer to your internal health.
