New Mantra of Search Engine Optimization and Web PromotionsWritten by Sandip Kar
Recent study shows that there are more than 7 billion web sites are there in universe and Google is crawling more than 4 billion by this time. All web site owners are looking forward for good ranking (within 20th position is termed as good ranking as per industry standard). Now imagine fact that a new web site in category of 'online games' or 'shopping cart' wants to achieve top 20 ranking within a period say 30-45 days. Is it possible to get that type of organic search results and that too within this short time period ? The answer is big NO!!. As per new algortihm Google refuses to index a web site who don't have much relevant and imporatnt links pointing to it. So what is future of newly launched websites ? Don't be confused but think in a logical way how this can be made possible. Search Engine Optimization is a part of Web promotions and web promotion are like other contemprorary business promotions which takes months and years to establish a brand or logo. For a new small business or any other category web site consider a minimum time period of 6 months for web promotion activities and divide these into following areas: 1>> Free Directory Submission - Submit your site in different open directory projects like DMOZ. This directory submission will take more time so this has to be completed first. But remember your web site should not have any page under construction status and try to pick most relevant category which best describes your business. Be specific in your site title and descriptions. Don't use any promotional word or pharse in title or description itself 2>> Press Release Submission - Prepare a 1 full page press release matter pointing out basic and useful features or utility of your site or services. Distribute this press release among different paid and non paid press release submission service web sites. Press release submission is now being one of most favorite and possible way to promote your web site within quickest possible time. If possible try to submit into some good paid press release services also. 3>> Paid Directory Submission - Just like open directory submission submit your web site into different paid directory services. But before doing so make sure directory itself is relevant have healthy PR value, which proves effetiveness of same in terms of web promotion. This process is costly but if executed professionally these can bring you a very much targetted traffic who actually looking for a service or business web site like yours. Both paid and non paid directory links are one way and hence valuable to your site
| | You Can't Nail A Spider To Its WebWritten by A. Raymond Randall
Some planks need replacing on my back porch. Nailing each board makes certain it stays secure for years. However, when trying to nail down Internet, search engines, email, or spiders on web, you can't. Whether we like it or not, Internet changes faster than New England weather, and with more subtlety than politicians. We'd all like to fasten our hopes to a few ideas that will work perpetually, and then sit back waiting for fortune to stream to our bank accounts. Unfortunately, life just does not work this way. Although somewhat moralistic, recognizing that easy way out does not exist softens expectations. Many Internet marketers suggest they work few hours to make huge sums. Frankly, I don't believe them. Working from your desk at home requires great effort, continuous focus, deliberate planning with plenty of creative adjustment. Yesterday, a colleague from India and I mused about whether or not Yahoo penalizes because Google Adsense Ads appear on a site. What options exist if this is true? We considered eliminating Adsense Ads, but that cuts off any potential revenue even if it does limit links from Yahoo. On other hand, we could create a second site, similar to first, without Google Adsense Ads. This involves a lot of work, and who knows if it will work. All we can do is try, and having done one site, what could be so difficult about adding a second with some subtle changes? Spend some time eavesdropping at major search engine optimization forums to see what "big guys" have to say on subject. Unless something has changed since writing this article, no one offers a conclusive opinion. For some webmasters, one idea works and another fails. What algorithm genies do remains mysterious as Google and Yahoo get drawn from their primary missions by quest for revenue. Google's initial public stock offering, augmented by Adsense and Gmail seems to support this premise. Observe Yahoos paid inclusion and you get picture. Whenever reading conflicting opinions, intuition and reasonable choices lead me further.
