My Search for the Truth

Written by Barbara Phillips

I am a Falun Dafa practitioner. Maybe you’ve heard aboutrepparttar persecution of Falun Dafa (or Falun Gong) practitioners in China. Overrepparttar 115059 past five years, many people have been committed to mental institutions, tortured, detained, imprisoned, and even killed, simply for refusing to give up this practice. Unfortunately, most Americans don’t know about this situation, or they’ve been given a negative impression, and sorepparttar 115060 persecution goes on. My intention is to give my impression of Falun Dafa, and hopefully, bring an awareness of this situation torepparttar 115061 people of this country--a country that was founded onrepparttar 115062 basis of religious and spiritual freedom.

All of my life, I have been searching for answers to all of life’s most fundamental questions: Why am I here? What isrepparttar 115063 purpose of life? Why do bad things happen to good people? Who is God? Why does He allow all of this?

As a child and again as a teenager, I searched forrepparttar 115064 answers in Christianity, and even though I sensed wisdom and truth inrepparttar 115065 teachings of Jesus--being honest, loving thy neighbor, turningrepparttar 115066 other cheek--there seemed to be something missing. Maybe something got lost inrepparttar 115067 translation.

I didn’t have a problem with not understanding everything about God’s actions--I mean He is God after all, and so how can I expect to understand Him? However, I did feel that I had some legitimate questions about justice. For instance, why do really bad things happen to seemingly good people? Why are babies born with deformities? How could this person’s life of ninety years be equal to that person’s life of 25 years? If all you have to do to go to heaven is believe that Jesus died onrepparttar 115068 cross for your sins, then what kind of a place would heaven be? I mean, I know a lot of people who believe that, and I’m not really sure that heaven would be better than earth if that wererepparttar 115069 case. Also, what happens to people who have never been exposed to Christianity or believe in some other god or religion? Obviously, I had a lot of questions that could not be answered withinrepparttar 115070 framework of contemporary Christian religions. Consequently, I gave uprepparttar 115071 search--at least forrepparttar 115072 time being.

When I was twenty-three years old, I became ill. Overrepparttar 115073 next few years, I became unable to work, and I was eventually diagnosed with lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, and vasculitis.

I had problems with every joint in my body; I couldn’t stand, sit, or use my hands for any length of time; I had no stamina and slept for about twelve hours every day; I often had acute pain that came and went for apparently no reason and chronic pain that could last for hours; I often could not get comfortable enough to go to sleep; because ofrepparttar 115074 amount and kind of medication that I took, I developed a lot of digestive problems; and I often ran a low-grade fever for days, and sometimes, weeks at a time.

Overrepparttar 115075 last two years, repparttar 115076 vasculitis had become quite bad. I would often break out in large hives all over my body, and would get large spontaneous ‘bruises’ on my legs and arms that were notrepparttar 115077 result of any trauma and which took an unusual length of time to heal. I knew that this could not go on indefinitely, and so I had come to acceptrepparttar 115078 fact thatrepparttar 115079 length of my life was severely limited.

I thought that I would just try to live what was left of my liferepparttar 115080 best that I could, but I still longed forrepparttar 115081 answers to those age-old questions. Even though I believed I would receiverepparttar 115082 answers when I died, I decided that I would ask for them while I still lived. So, one day, I imagined myself crying out torepparttar 115083 universe for help.

Household Pollution…There is a Solution

Household Pollution…There is a Solution

Every day, people everywhere, unwittingly expose themselves and Mother Earth, to hazardous materials. I say unwittingly, because these chemicals are found inrepparttar household products that we use every day. Scientists now believe that exposure to these every day products, is a key factor inrepparttar 115058 increase of certain chronic illness in children. Illnesses including cancer, asthma, ADD; birth defects, and many other problems. And if they are toxic to us, they are not helpingrepparttar 115059 environment either. As consumers, we are left inrepparttar 115060 dark as to what are really inrepparttar 115061 products we use. Manufacturers are required to listrepparttar 115062 ingredients, but how are you supposed to know what those items do? Most of them you can't even pronounce! We all know that when it comes to Corporate America, profit usually wins out over consumer protection.

YOUR HOME IS THE NUMBER 1 SOURCE OF TOXIC CHEMICALS Because we spend 80-90% of our time indoors, that is where we are more likely to come in contact with toxic chemicals, residues and vapors.

Children drink more water, eat more food, and breathe more air per pound of body weight than adults. This is one reason children are more likely to suffer; another is that children put things in their mouths. Even things you think are "clean" often have harmful residues left on them byrepparttar 115063 very products you used to clean them with! Furthermore, children are less developed, their bodies are effected more severely than an adult's. And, just because something has proven safe for adults, doesn't mean it's safe for kids. Most products are tested without any consideration forrepparttar 115064 exposure of children, saverepparttar 115065 small warning to keep out of their reach. Each year FIVE to TEN MILLION accidental poisonings are reported torepparttar 115066 U.S. Poison Control Center. Many are fatal; most are children.
