"Modern" diets and supplements.

Forrepparttar majority of people who don't raise their own foods, diets can be deficient in vitamins and minerals. In fact, it wasrepparttar 115415 study of diet deficiencies inrepparttar 115416 USA and other countries that led torepparttar 115417 creation of vitamin and mineral supplements.

Since my late youth, when I leftrepparttar 115418 farm, I have included supplements in my diet. Now I take "therapeutic" blends of vitamins, helped by mineral tablets that are high in often neglected components, such as calcium and trace elements. I do NOT take "mega doses"; some vitamins are toxic at high levels.

But exercise caution. Supplement marketers have some ofrepparttar 115419 most profitable markups short of prescription medicines. Read what you can learn onrepparttar 115420 internet searches, including reputable experts, such as http://mayoclinic.com.

Potatoes are healthful!

Written by Dr. Donald A. Miller

Not deep fried potatoes.

Not potatoes smothered in butter, margarine, or sour cream.

Low fat yogurt can be used as a topping, plain or with herbs and spices. But try potatoes that are baked, boiled, fried on a non- stick surface with a minimum of oil or non-stick spray, chopped into soups and stews, and on, and on.

It is extremely unfortunate that deep fried and salted potatoes ("french-fries" or pomme de terre frit" or "pomme frit", and potato chips) are so tasty, and are nowrepparttar most popular of all fast foods. But severely restrict your intake if you don't want heart disease, stroke, and other illnesses.
