Mediterranean Diet: New Study shows It’s Great For Weight Loss And your HeartWritten by Karen Wild
The Mediterranean diet first became popular as a heart health diet, but its role may be changing. In 1960's it was discovered that some people in Mediterranean, particularly those from Crete, had a significantly longer life expectancy than people elsewhere in world. Their diet, which is high in vegetables, meat, pasta, beans, cereals, olive oil and wine, seemed to have ability to protect them from heart disease and stroke. Today, though, it may become known as a weight loss diet. Spanish Researchers studying eating habits of 1,547 men and 1615 women aged 25-74, recently found that more closely subjects followed diet, lower their body fat levels became. This was surprising, because, in other studies it had been seen that Mediterraneans were not exactly slim and that contrasted sharply to usual expectation that if you're fat, you're more likely to die of a stroke or heart attack.
| | Low Carb Breads Make Meal Time EasierWritten by Lee Dobbins
Just a couple of years ago, choices for packaged foods were limited but today a trip through your grocery store will yield many low carb versions of your favorite foods. The ones with most impact and which have made my daily meal prep easier are low carb breads. One of my favorite breads is a whole wheat wrap that has only 5 grams net carbs and is perfect for any kind of sandwich. Remember when you used to have to use a lettuce leaf to hold your tuna or turkey? Well not anymore with this wonderful and tasty wrap! I This wrap not only makes great sandwiches, but you can use it for many other things as well. Remember when your family would send out for pizza and you would sit with them staring longingly at pie - well not anymore! Now you can simply scrape off pizza cheese, sauce and toppings and stick it in wrap! How about subs like those delicious steak and cheese – just order them at sub shop on a wrap and then transfer fillings of sub into your low carb wrap (or better yet, maybe you can get sub guy to just put filling inside your wrap?).
