Mary Poppins is a musical masterpiece, a classic story that has won hearts of millions of people. Mary Poppins began as a simple children's story by P.L. Travers. In 1964 Disney brought story to big screen, with Julie Andrews playing title role of Mary Poppins, and Dick Van Dyke casted as chimney sweep. The special effects Disney was able to put together were a work of genius. Filmed long before era of digital capabilities, Mary Poppins mixed real-life footage with animation so flawlessly, that one wonders if special effects may in fact have been magical, after all! The chimney sweeps appear to be actually dancing upon rooftops of jolly old England, and leaping carousal horses are an innocent childhood fantasy come true.
