Make Your Sun Friendly

Written by Jennifer Clement

Every day we hear aboutrepparttar dangers ofrepparttar 111476 sun and negative effects it can have onrepparttar 111477 lives of our families. We continually hear about this problem, but very rarely do we hear suggestions for solutions to this issue (outside ofrepparttar 111478 wear your sun block orrepparttar 111479 stay-out-of-the-sun warnings). As a working mom and taking these issues to heart, I had repeated confrontations with my children’s daycare provider over what constitutes proper sun protection. It did not seem right to me that I was doing things such as walking backwards withrepparttar 111480 stroller or coveringrepparttar 111481 stroller with blankets to protect my child fromrepparttar 111482 sun while my daycare provider would not take even takerepparttar 111483 simplest precautions, such as applying sunscreen.

I have found that our kids being inrepparttar 111484 sun is a fact of life, be it going to soccer practice, repparttar 111485 park, repparttar 111486 beach, or just playing inrepparttar 111487 backyard. Our children rely on us to protect them fromrepparttar 111488 pain of a sun- burn, no lessrepparttar 111489 long-term effects of sun exposure. My mother continually struggles with recurring skin cancer andrepparttar 111490 American Cancer Society declared that “One severe sunburn as a child, doublesrepparttar 111491 chance for skin cancer later in life.” This is a very real issue that we must face together with our families.

Here are some tips for enjoyingrepparttar 111492 sun safely:

1)Limit Time inrepparttar 111493 Midday Sun –repparttar 111494 sun’s rays are strongest between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Who Can You Trust

Written by Shellie Rushing Tomlinson

I remember when Mama would reach her boiling point with my sisters and me. "I promise you one thing," she'd say. "If I hear one more argument today, nobody's gonna be able to sit down for a week." As I grew up I began to realize that not everyone took a promise as seriously as Mama did.

There are plenty of folks that will give you their word and not think twice about going back on it. Kinda makes it hard to trust people, doesn't it? Of course, if we're honest with ourselves, we'll have to admit that we've all broken a promise or two inrepparttar past. So, who can be trusted? Oh, I thought you'd never ask.
