Living with Christian Art for Inspiration

Written by Rosana Hart

Christian art is wonderful for inspiring us. Cathedrals and churches, paintings, music, performances, and sculpture have been created for centuries. Now, in our own time, photography, mixed media, and posters are widely available too.

All these forms of Christian art have shaped our understanding ofrepparttar great stories ofrepparttar 138053 Bible. Fromrepparttar 138054 simple Christmas carols we learned as children torepparttar 138055 transcendent glory of Handel's Messiah, Christian music uplifts us. Fromrepparttar 138056 Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel to Salvador Dali's Last Supper, Christian paintings give us something to look at and contemplate. A few minutes spent looking at a piece of art can help center us before a time of quiet prayer.

There is something for everyone, with whatever taste in art, with whatever favorite themes. You could spend a lifetime just delving into pictures of Christ himself, as a child and as an adult. Other specific themes includerepparttar 138057 garden of Eden, angels,repparttar 138058 crucifixion,repparttar 138059 last supper, saints, and other Christian figures.

Joseph of Arimathaea - Part Two:

Written by Robert Bruce Baird

D. J. Conway writes aboutrepparttar followers of Finn andrepparttar 138052 Fianna in 'Celtic Magic' which tiesrepparttar 138053 'F' and 'Ph' of Phoenicians torepparttar 138054 Keltic king Finn. The 'Red-heads' are many places including Tarim near the' present Great Wall of China. In a recent National Geographic you can see their mummified remains and red hair. They were in Genghis Khan's Altaic region in 3,000 BC according to archaeology which likes to call them 'proto-Celts'. Genetic tracking tells us that one third ofrepparttar 138055 Cohens are related torepparttar 138056 Levite priests of ancient Judaea yet they were wiped out beforerepparttar 138057 Maccabeans tookrepparttar 138058 Temple before Herod dealt with them. The celebration of Chanukah (Hanukah) relates torepparttar 138059 take over of Judas Maccabee inrepparttar 138060 5th Century BC. The current worship of Tikkun energy byrepparttar 138061 likes of Rabbi Michael Lerner is an area I am researching or keeping my eyes open towards.

Perhaps this is explainable by women carryingrepparttar 138062 blood afterrepparttar 138063 men were killed but it wasrepparttar 138064 Maccabean princess that Herod married,repparttar 138065 day before he had her and her brother killed. Personally I'd like it if everyone admitted we all are Earthians and dropped all this race and ethnic origin stuff. The noble lineage that passed throwrepparttar 138066 blood of women has made women of Dragon blood a political chattel ofrepparttar 138067 worst sort. But because history is a power game and propaganda has to be pierced we are forced into these circuitous battles over who thought who was best and/or 'chosen ones' versus 'devoted ones'. That phrase is truly amazing. Devoted ones (according to Cahill in 'Gifts ofrepparttar 138068 Jews') means those to be sacrificed inrepparttar 138069 Temple; I had suffered underrepparttar 138070 illusion it meant those who had shown great reverence forrepparttar 138071 great god Jehovah. Linguistics also shows how 'Aryan' is derived from 'Eire-yann' orrepparttar 138072 people of Eire and Ireland. Thus Hitler would be killing his 'high Aryan priesthood' unless he freed Benjaminites andrepparttar 138073 'arch-tectons' ofrepparttar 138074 House of Judah orrepparttar 138075 Merovingian family of Jesus. It is a grotesque irony to be certain! Yes, politics inrepparttar 138076 Bible is well evidenced; andrepparttar 138077 dogma is inspired by some very bad people NOT by God; or even by someone as good asrepparttar 138078 heretical Cathars and Gnostics who actually lived according to what they said they believed.

"If Joseph of Arimathaea arrived in Glastonbury with Mary Magdalene/Bethany and was her companion and guardian, then he would be a guardian ofrepparttar 138079 Holy Grail. The Grail Romances ofrepparttar 138080 troubadors mysteriously connect Joseph of Arimathaea withrepparttar 138081 Grail lineage...

Medieval tradition portrays Joseph of Arimathaea as a custodian ofrepparttar 138082 Holy Grail; and Perceval is said to be one of his lineage. According to other later traditions, he is in some way related by blood to Jesus and Jesus's family. (8)

Who was Joseph of Arimathaea?

Do we not, now, have enough information to make a plausible guess? Inrepparttar 138083 Gospels he is described as a rich man who was a secret disciple of Jesus. He suppliedrepparttar 138084 shroud in whichrepparttar 138085 body of Jesus was wrapped. 'It was Joseph of Arimathaea who obtainedrepparttar 138086 body of Jesus from Pontius Pilate. And he ownedrepparttar 138087 land withrepparttar 138088 tomb in which Jesus was buried.'

The ownership of a private tomb indicates great wealth,repparttar 138089 fact that he could obtainrepparttar 138090 body of Jesus from Pilate indicates not only great influence, but something else. Joseph of Arimathaea must have been a relative of Jesus in order to have claimedrepparttar 138091 body fromrepparttar 138092 Roman authorities.

Then, there isrepparttar 138093 matter ofrepparttar 138094 tomb. Was Jesus put intorepparttar 138095 same tomb, and resurrected fromrepparttar 138096 same tomb, asrepparttar 138097 one in which Lazarus was buried and raised? It 'seems' so fromrepparttar 138098 Gospels because this isrepparttar 138099 only tomb mentioned duringrepparttar 138100 final days beforerepparttar 138101 Crucifixion and after it. This tomb was a cave whose entrance could be closed by a stone rolled in front of it. Lazarus was laid in it (John 11:38). Jesus was laid in it. At least,repparttar 138102 description of this cave-tomb arerepparttar 138103 same for both Jesus and Lazarus.

If this deduction is correct, thenrepparttar 138104 cave-tomb wasrepparttar 138105 property of Joseph of Arimathaea, and this cave-tomb was onrepparttar 138106 property at Bethany, atrepparttar 138107 house of Martha, Lazarus and Mary. The same house where Jesus and his entourage had been offered extended hospitality. Joseph of Arimathaea must have beenrepparttar 138108 owner of this house in Bethany with its cave-tomb. He must have beenrepparttar 138109 father of Martha, Lazarus and Mary. He must also have beenrepparttar 138110 father-in-law of Jesus. Historical records tell us he becamerepparttar 138111 Roman Empire's Minister of Mines.

{The marriage at his house in Cana whenrepparttar 138112 water is turned to wine has no mention ofrepparttar 138113 name ofrepparttar 138114 groom but it does have a conversation with Jesus and Joseph of Arimathaea. We haven't included all of his reasoning and others who makerepparttar 138115 same point because it makes sense and needs little more corroboration. This is why there is no hubbub about Mary traveling with Jesus. He followedrepparttar 138116 code of his faith as a rabbi [teacher] and was therefore married asrepparttar 138117 Mishnah calls for; there is a lot to prove Jesus was a devout man.}
