Life! In Grandfather's Kitchen

Life! In Grandfather's Kitchen By Kathryn Ryan Every morning when I sniff coffee grains, memories of my grandfather inrepparttar kitchen flood my mind. He was what I refer to as a coffee connoisseur. Every morning at 6:00 a.m.repparttar 126850 percolator was onrepparttar 126851 front burner. He was loyal to his daily routine which, besides his coffee, included a hearty breakfast, a couple of chapters from his favorite western, and a few Bible verses. Morning was his most cherished time ofrepparttar 126852 day, whenrepparttar 126853 kitchen was his and his alone. Engraved in my memory is an effigy of him, like something out of a Norman Rockwel painting. A warm glow emanates throughoutrepparttar 126854 kitchen as its window greetsrepparttar 126855 east. Wild birds cast fleeting shadows uponrepparttar 126856 floor and their chatter comes and goes. How utterly delighted they sound in adoration ofrepparttar 126857 sun as though it's given them sanction to live another day. Steam exhales fromrepparttar 126858 percolator each timerepparttar 126859 liquid caffeine explodes intorepparttar 126860 glass knob. Comparable to a steam engine fighting up and incline, it mechanically works its aroma intorepparttar 126861 air. Like a snake, bacon hisses fromrepparttar 126862 frying pan asrepparttar 126863 grease gives an unanticipated snap now and then. In an even smaller pan onrepparttar 126864 back burner, two bulging yokes, lightly sprinkled with pepper stare up atrepparttar 126865 ceiling. Inrepparttar 126866 midst of all this, repparttar 126867 spry elderly gentleman projects his habitual little chants, "Yupp...coffee's ready." and "Yupp...bacon and eggs too." As he manages aboutrepparttar 126868 room, friendly little creaks fromrepparttar 126869 floor answer in response. With a jack-in-the-box greeting, repparttar 126870 toast springs from its slots. "Oh...gotta get it while it's hot." He scurries acrossrepparttar 126871 room to butter his toast.

An Opportunity to Turn

An Opportunity to Turn Tragedy into Triumph

(9-11)

Having previously warned several preachers that God was angry, there was no positive response. Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily ... (Ec. 8:11), none believed.

To whom much has been given, much shall be required. That means you, America. Drugs, violence, families torn apart, financial ruin ... we have been experiencing personal earth quakes for quite some time, whilerepparttar church slept on.

One lady said she heard someone on TV ask, "What did we do to deserve this?" And as soon as she heardrepparttar 126849 question, repparttar 126850 answer came. As a result of God's response to her, this lady said, "In past tragedies, America was shaken. This time, we got spanked."

If only byrepparttar 126851 candidates they choose; New York City supports such things as abortion, in a more unified way. Others shed spiritual blood in less visible ways: attacking whatever they do not understand, thinking itrepparttar 126852 will of God to separate from everything not like them, not allowing people to serve as God calls them, etc.). To subvert a man in his cause, repparttar 126853 Lord approveth not (La. 3:36). Blood for blood (Ge. 9:6),repparttar 126854 moon will turn to blood (Ps. 89:37, Ez. 33:4); if that is what it takes. Every knee shall bow.

Tragedy reminds us ofrepparttar 126855 important things in life and draws us to unity that would otherwise never be. It causes us to get on our knees and look up. The center of our earth shook. The land quaked ... this time, in a way that no one could ignore.

Those involved in internet ministry have withstoodrepparttar 126856 gates of hell to go torepparttar 126857 highways and hedges, and against criticism from without and within. One person suggested thatrepparttar 126858 church just received their wake-up call.

Having asked God how many prophecies had to come to pass, He said, "As many as it takes."
