There were giants in
earth in those days; and also after that, when
sons of God came in unto
daughters of men, and they bare children to them,
same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. And
Lord said, Shall I hide from Abraham that thing which I do; Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all
nations of
earth shall be blessed in him?
But his bow abode in strength, and
arms of his hands were made strong by
hands of
mighty God of Jacob; (from thence is
shepherd,
stone of Israel:) And
children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty; and
land was filled with them. Therefore God dealt well with
midwives: and
people multiplied, and waxed very mighty.
O Lord God, thou hast begun to shew thy servant thy greatness, and thy mighty hand: for what God is there in heaven or in earth, that can do according to thy works, and according to thy might?
Did ever people hear
voice of God speaking out of
midst of
fire, as thou hast heard, and live? Or hath God assayed to go and take him a nation from
midst of another nation, by temptations, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by a stretched out arm, and by great terrors, according to all that
Lord your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes? And because he loved thy fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought thee out in his sight with his mighty power out of Egypt.
The great temptations which thine eyes saw, and
signs, and
wonders, and
mighty hand, and
stretched out arm, whereby
Lord thy God brought thee out: so shall
Lord thy God do unto all
people of whom thou art afraid. Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for
Lord thy God is among you, a mighty God and terrible. But
Lord thy God shall deliver them unto thee, and shall destroy them with a mighty destruction, until they be destroyed.
For
Lord your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward: That all
people of
earth might know
hand of
Lord, that it is mighty: that ye might fear
LORD your God for ever.
And
Lord said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and
king thereof, and
mighty men of valour. Then he made him that remaineth have dominion over
nobles among
people:
Lord made me have dominion over
mighty. And
angel of
Lord appeared unto him, and said unto him, The Lord is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.
And all
princes, and
mighty men, and all
sons likewise of king David, submitted themselves unto Solomon
king.
Moreover concerning
stranger, which is not of thy people Israel, but is come from a far country for thy great name's sake, and thy mighty hand, and thy stretched out arm; if they come and pray in this house; Then hear thou from
heavens, even from thy dwelling place, and do according to all that
stranger calleth to thee for; that all people of
earth may know thy name, and fear thee, as doth thy people Israel, and may know that this house which I have built is called by thy name.
So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before
Lord his God.
After him repaired Nehemiah
son of Azbuk,
ruler of
half part of Beth-zur, unto
place over against
sepulchres of David, and to
pool that was made, and unto
house of
mighty. And thou didst divide
sea before them, so that they went through
midst of
sea on
dry land; and their persecutors thou threwest into
deeps, as a stone into
mighty waters.
Now therefore, our God,
great,
mighty, and
terrible God, who keepest covenant and mercy, let not all
trouble seem little before thee, that hath come upon us, on our kings, on our princes, and on our priests, and on our prophets, and on our fathers, and on all thy people, since
time of
kings of Assyria unto this day.
But he saveth
poor from
sword, from their mouth, and from
hand of
mighty. He is wise in heart, and mighty in strength: who hath hardened himself against him, and hath prospered?
But as for
mighty man, he had
earth; and
honourable man dwelt in it.
He draweth also
mighty with his power: he riseth up, and no man is sure of life. In a moment shall they die, and
people shall be troubled at midnight, and pass away: and
mighty shall be taken away without hand.
He shall break in pieces mighty men without number, and set others in their stead. Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom.
When he raiseth up himself,
mighty are afraid: by reason of breakings they purify themselves.
Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty,
Lord mighty in battle. To him that rideth upon
heavens of heavens, which were of old; lo, he doth send out his voice, and that a mighty voice. Thou didst cleave
fountain and
flood: thou driedst up mighty rivers.
God standeth in
congregation of
mighty; he judgeth among
gods. For who in
heaven can be compared unto
Lord? who among
sons of
mighty can be likened unto
Lord? Thou hast a mighty arm: strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand. The Lord on high is mightier than
noise of many waters, yea, than
mighty waves of
sea. Who can utter
mighty acts of
Lord? who can shew forth all his praise?
Nevertheless he saved them for his name's sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known. His seed shall be mighty upon earth:
generation of
upright shall be blessed.
One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts. To make known to
sons of men his mighty acts, and
glorious majesty of his kingdom. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
He that is slow to anger is better than
mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
Wisdom strengtheneth
wise more than ten mighty men which are in
city. Thy neck is like
tower of David builded for an armoury, whereon there hang a thousand bucklers, all shields of mighty men.
Therefore saith
Lord,
Lord of hosts,
mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies: The mighty man, and
man of war,
judge, and
prophet, and
prudent, and
ancient, For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and
government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. The remnant shall return, even
remnant of Jacob, unto
mighty God.
