Knowing What You Believe ...How To's for Bible Study
My son, if thou wilt receive my words (the ones God speaks to you, Jb. 23:12), and hide my commandments with thee (be ready to obey His instruction); So that thou incline thine ear (listen for Him to speak) unto wisdom, and apply thine heart (the word God ministers to you) to understanding (get Biblical definition of those words, found within Bible); Yea, if thou criest after knowledge (express your heart to God), and liftest up thy voice for understanding (ask to know His will); If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures (God hid it from wise and prudent); Then shalt thou understand fear of Lord, and find knowledge of God. Pr. 2:1-5
But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into heart of man, things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for Spirit searcheth all things, yea, deep things of God. For what man knoweth things of a man, save spirit of man which is in him? even so things of God knoweth no man (neither preachers, prophets, teachers, professors, doctors, or theologians), but Spirit of God. Now we have received, not spirit of world (no Webster's), but spirit which is of God; that we might know things that are freely given to us of God. Which things also we speak, not in words which man's wisdom teacheth (without Hebrew or Greek), but which Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things (word searches) with spiritual. But natural man receiveth not things of Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man. For who hath known mind of Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have mind of Christ. 1 Co. 2:9-16
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing word of truth (divide and conqueror). 2 Ti. 2:15
Who also hath made us able ministers of new testament; not of letter, but of spirit: for letter killeth (darkness), but spirit giveth life (light). 2 Co. 3:6
But anointing which ye have received of him (the Spirit anointed words) abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. 1 Jn. 2:27
The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit ... Ro. 8:16 And it is Spirit that beareth witness, because Spirit is truth. 1 Jn. 5:6
But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but Holy Ghost. Mk. 13:11 For Holy Ghost shall teach you in same hour what ye ought to say. Lu. 12:12
An EXAMPLE of what not to do:
His body shall not remain all night upon tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God;) that thy land be not defiled, which Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance. De. 21:23
He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 1 Jn. 4:8 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by Spirit of God calleth Jesus accursed: and that no man can say that Jesus is Lord, but by Holy Ghost. 1 Co. 12:3 And that from a child thou hast known holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. 2 Ti. 3:15
We're not to use scriptural comparison to destroy one's testimony, but to promote holiness, edification, and such. For kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in Holy Ghost. Ro. 14:17 And to know love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all fulness of God. Ep. 3:19
And hope maketh not ashamed; because love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by Holy Ghost which is given unto us. Ro. 5:5 For this is love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. 1 Jo. 5:3 (He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God? Mi. 6:8)
But seek ye first kingdom of God (God is love and His throne grace), and his righteousness (for it is impossible for God to lie); and all these things shall be added unto you (whatsoever you have need of). Mt. 6:33
Ask, and it shall be given you;
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of sea driven with wind and tossed. Ja. 1:6
seek, and ye shall find;
(Don't tell God what He believes until you have heard it from Him.) And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart. Je. 29:13
