John Paul the HonestWritten by Arthur Zulu
In world of men and women, there are many famous names. Consider these: The great commoner, William Pitt, elder. The grand old man, William Ewart Gladstone. The wisest fool in Christendom, King James I of England. The bard of Avon, William Shakespeare. The black Napoleon, Jean Jacques Dessalines of Haiti. The Dickens of France, Honore de Balzac. Others are first gentleman in Europe, King George IV of England. The lady of lamp, Florence Nightingale. The laughing philosopher, Democritus. The faultless painter, Andrea del Sarto. The learned Blacksmith, Elihu Burrit, an American linguist. The young pretender, Charles Edward Stuart. The Semiramis of North, Catherine II, Empress of Russia. The inspired idiot, Oliver Goldsmith. Enter another world. There are many infamous popes in annals of papacy. Sample this list: The “monster” and “terrorizing criminal,” Pope Sergius III. The grand adulterer, Pope John XII. The “antichrist,” Pope Boniface VII. The simonists Popes John XV, John XIX, and Benedict VIII. The robber of “pilgrims on graves of martyrs,” Pope Benedict IX. Others are exterminator, Pope Innocent III. The professed atheist who called Christ a “hypocrite,” Pope Boniface VIII. The violator of “three hundred nuns” and “two hundred girls” called “Devil incarnate,” Pope John XXIII. The fathers of illegitimate children and keepers of concubines, Popes Pius II and Paul II. The amusement seeker, Pope Leo X. The most corrupt Renaissance pope who had sex with his sisters and daughter and conducted a sex orgy in Vatican, Pope Alexander VI. But fame or infamy is not exclusive preserve of men and popes. Because some countries have joined list. Examine Poland. That nation is better known for wars and pogroms, communism and concentration camps—not for simile, as honest as a Pole. Or rather as honest as John Paul. I did not affix pope to that name because honesty seems to be a strange quality in history of popedom. Holiness is an anathema to vicars of Christ! But Pope John Paul II did separate himself from infamous list before he died. Not when he goofed and said that Bible book of Genesis is compatible with theory of evolution. For evolution and creation are two opposite things. The pope proved that he was in another class when he apologized for sins of Roman Catholic Church. It takes a lot of courage to do so and many dyed in wool Catholics were opposed to “mea culpa.” But John Paul could not be deterred. He was a honest pope. His Holiness was not however specific about those iniquities. Perhaps confession did not include “small” sins. Like Pope Stephen VI who dug up Pope Formosus after he was dead for eight years, tried him, found him guilty, yanked off his fingers, dragged him on streets of Rome and finally threw him into River Tiber. Like Pope Vigilius who after condemning certain books, removed his condemnation, then condemned them again and afterward retracted his condemnation, and later condemned them again! Like Pope Benedict IV who declared Joan of Arc to be a “saint” after she was condemned by Pope Eugene IV for witchcraft.
| | Calling All Angels, Talking To AngelsWritten by Sam Stevens
I am a big believer in strength of a personal prayer. However, some of you have asked for a formal guide about how to call to Archangels. (See archives – Your Guide To Archangels for more information!) This guide below is for those of you who prefer to follow a structured format. This Universal Prayer To The Angels can be used to address any of seven archangels. It is based loosely on Elizabeth Claire Prophet’s prayer structure, that I have personally found to be extremely effective. It is ok to follow structure below and write your prayer down and read it. It is also good to read your prayer out loud if you choose to use this more formal method. First of all clear your mind. Try to be relaxed as possible. Light a candle that is appropriate. This is optional and I have included more about using candles as a prayer aid in next section. First you call all angels… In name of (insert one of following – one that feels best to you) The God (or Goddess) That is Within Me The Divine Imagination My Higher Power The Great Being of Light The I Am That I Am I call to all seven archangels and their legions of light. I ask that all Seven Rays bless me with their divine guidance. Then you call specific angel: I call on Archangel ______ (choose appropriate Archangel) and his legions of light. For purposes of this exercise we are going to use Archangel Michael. I ask for your ____ (fill in blank). In Michael’s case you would say, “I ask for your protection.” Then you make general requests that address overall nature of issues that replace all negatives with positive. For example, using Archangel Michael: I ask angels for protection against losing my car and my job. I ask angels to be free of anxiety and filled with emotional security. I ask that you replace my lack of confidence with ability to stand up for myself. I ask that all doubts about future be replaced with faith that no matter what happens, all will be well. At this point in prayer you may also visualize chakra that is associated with Angel. Michael is related to fourth chakra of self-expression so you may want to visualize this area as a glowing brilliant blue. If this is too much for you to handle at first, just concentrate on getting words right. Then you make a specific request: I ask angels to ____ (fill in blank.) This is where you describe specific situations that you would like fixed. For example: I ask angels to please resolve problem at work and protect me from job loss. I ask angels to please help me find money to fix brakes on my car so I don’t have an accident.
