Jaguar Cars-Think Robert McCarthy for restorationWritten by Malcolm Pugh
northfield garage (cont2) northfieldjags@btconnect.com Phone : 0121 411 1077 Fax : 0121 475 4844 Another sign of quality. My favourites, XJS range.... lovingly cared for here, everyone genuinely loves Jags, so they will take good care of yours!! The saloons are sleek and powerful, strangely they just do not seem to age at all, and retain their pristine shape, and superb roadholding. In today's mayhem that passes for driving, it is reassuring to be in a car of substance, and feel secure in knowledge it is serviced and repaired by total professionals, who know every nut and bolt, and use only Jaguar parts. Its almost a small boy's paradise, to come here and see all vast array of cars being brought back to their original, near perfect, looks and wonderfully engineered mechanics. It is strange low price of such marvellous feats of engineering; I never thought to own and run a Jaguar without it costing earth to buy and to run, thankfully they are cheap to buy and Robert is very fair in his pricing and attitude. To be honest, I don't like spoiler on this one, I think they are head and shoulders above all other cars without needing any gimmicks.

This is a testament to skill and determination of one man, Robert McCarthy, and his life long love of Jaguar cars. Northfield garage retains all old skills, all old manners, and all old traditions that made Jaguar great; due in main to Robert, but also to his devoted and highly skilled, long-serving staff. Everywhere there is precision, quality, class and charm; legacies of an era when only best would suffice, second best was not tolerated , not good enough. There were no tolerances in design, no tolerances in build, no tolerances in final product. At Northfield Garage Birmingham, thankfully same still applies, only best is good enough, and strangely, customer , now much forgotten elsewhere, here is always right (most days!). An ageing sign shows pedigree of place, it has been there for years and will be for many more; unusual in motor trade. A sign of quality. Inside, very latest equipment, and antique employees, serve to give place professionalism combined with old world charm and manners. There is no substitute for politeness, no need for being offhand. All too often we accept this these days, fortunately , here it is not necessary. The place has a multitude of ramps, and space, combined with state of art machinery, complete rebuilds from near disasters have been, and continue to be, performed. I have been amazed at what is actually possible.
